XIG

The External Investing Group (XIG) within Goldman Sachs Asset Management partners with elite external managers across the risk-return spectrum to drive investment performance for our clients. XIG identifies top third-party investment managers outside of Goldman Sachs' internal teams and partners with them in multiple ways. We invest directly in their products, co-invest alongside them, acquire positions in the secondaries market, and invest directly into management companies.

With tens of thousands of managers operating in this space, XIG believes that many compelling investment opportunities are often difficult to find, assess, or access. Our investment teams have developed expertise across the investment landscape and have built long-term partnerships with leading managers across the world. Our rigorous investment and diligence processes aim for consistent, repeatable results across various investment verticals. By investing in or alongside our managers, we create unique opportunities for our clients.

GLOBAL REPORTING AND ANALYTICS

The XIG Global Reporting and Analytics (GRA) team is responsible for producing client and fund level reporting for hedge fund, private equity, and long-only manager asset classes. This includes data analysis and review of investment portfolio holdings, performance, underlying manager reports, and risk reports.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

This role is responsible for data quality analysis and the creation of insightful weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports detailing performance metrics, diversification strategies, and portfolio composition, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative data. Furthermore, the individual may contribute to initiatives designed to enhance workflows, upgrade platforms, and implement new software solutions. The team maintains close partnerships with key internal stakeholders across Goldman Sachs, including Investment Onboarding, Data Quality Oversight, Client Service, Fund Accounting, Technology, Legal, Compliance, and various Portfolio Investment teams.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSABILITIES



  • Generate detailed reports and provide analytical insights pertaining to issue resolutions, portfolio composition, performance analysis, investment activity, metadata, and investment commentary.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of materials and reports prepared by junior team members, ensuring accuracy and quality.
  • Address inquiries from senior management and internal stakeholders regarding fund information, portfolio holdings analysis, and performance reporting.
  • Manage projects related to the onboarding of new clients, funds, and custom investment mandates, while also leading initiatives to enhance platform capabilities and functionalities.
  • Oversee the publication and validation of client data across various reporting platforms, ensuring data integrity and accuracy.



BASIC QUALIFICATIONS



  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, demonstrating self-motivation and a proactive approach to embracing increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal abilities are critical for successful collaboration and relationship management.
  • Proficiency in interpreting financial statements to validate the accuracy of client reporting materials.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and proven experience in producing complex, customized client materials with a commitment to the highest standards of accuracy.
  • Strong analytical foundation necessary to effectively train and mentor analysts in the development of client reporting materials.
  • Actively engage in product onboarding calls and collaborate with XIG teams to ensure a comprehensive understanding and smooth implementation plan for addressing client specifications impacting the reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with performance specialists across XIG, including consistent interaction with senior leadership, to facilitate seamless coordination.
  • Comprehensive understanding of performance attribution methodologies and risk calculation techniques used in hedge fund and private equity asset classes.
  • Exceptional organizational capabilities to effectively manage and review significant volumes of deliverables under tight deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and a demonstrated aptitude for quickly adapting to new software platforms and technologies.
