A Brief Overview
The Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis supports the executive team and operating partners with value added financial analytics. The candidate must be a cross-functional team player, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment; able to think outside the box, while building and maintaining productive positive relationships with dispersed business unit staff and management teams. The Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis manages the financial planning and budgeting processes for the entire portfolio of Hunt Military Communities. This position is accountable for building and improving on current financial modeling tools and resources to meet the demands as required by HMC senior leadership and industry regulatory reporting. This position is in charge of sustainment planning for all projects and for leadership presentations. Confirms that the financial strategies and initiatives are integrated with executive business strategies. Heads financial analysis for informing what-if scenarios and business models. Analyzes opportunities and risk and recommends alternatives to senior management. Creates financial models and analyses of financial and operational metrics to evaluate and direct business performance.

What you will do



  • Responsible for the aggregation and preparation of various financial analyses.
  • Complete complex analyses, provide sensitivity analysis and data, and make sound recommendations.
  • Work independently to continuously identify opportunities for improvement of complex processes.
  • Ability to seek out, implement and/or improve internal or external best practices.
  • Communicates relevant financial information on a timely basis to superiors and others, as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Performs "what-if" and sensitivity analyses of potential MHPI project restructures, financing opportunities and operational issues and provides detailed analysis of present value of opportunities, evaluation of costs and returns and provides necessary deliverables to senior management.
  • Works to identify opportunities for improvement of reporting and data infrastructure supporting pro-forma projections; advocates to and coordinates with technology team in initiatives.
  • Lead for maintenance of ongoing updates and maintenance of individual project pro-forma for Hunt's Military Housing Privatization portfolio and conventional managed projects.
  • Participates in project restructure negotiations; directs restructure financial modeling efforts by providing model assumptions/inputs and reviews models for accuracy and functionality.
  • Evaluates sources and uses for capital programs.
  • Performs variance analyses of project performance against budget and pro-forma.
  • Works with the Energy Manager to conduct utility analyses related to consumption, rates and billing, etc. Identifies opportunities to reduce utility/energy expenses.
  • Assists the owner with acquisitions by providing analysis including the local market, operating expenses, rental income, occupancy and lease-up; assists owner with thorough due diligence and acquisition stages as requested.
  • Assists owner with dispositions of excess land by providing analysis including a view of the local market and sales prices, repairs or capital expenditures that may be necessary, and assistance in the delivery of due diligence materials.
  • Assists owner with administration of mortgage loans, including preparing loan packages for submittal to lenders, analyzing mortgage loan market and available interest rates, loan terms and structures, and assisting in obtaining/delivering submittals required by lenders as a condition to loan closing.
  • Uphold all Company policies, goals, and values.
  • Responsible for assisting Asset Managers in the creation of the annual operating and capital budget


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance Required or
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration Preferred
  • 4-6 years progressive finance experience, include extensive expertise with highly complex spreadsheet models. Required and
  • 1-3 years experience with real estate and enterprise valuation Required and
  • Experience with Microsoft Access, Hyperion and/or JD Edwards Enterprise One Preferred
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong FP&A analytic skills; able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives, and drive positive change.
  • Good grasp of accounting concepts as they relate to corporate financial analysis and/or valuation.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and understand research transactions from both public and private sources.
  • Exposure to commercial real estate, property/asset management or private equity.
  • Advanced-level Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Individual must be a high performing independent thinker with excellent critical thinking and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently.
  • Flexibility, initiative and time management skills are critical.
  • Excellent customer service and problem solving skills required.
  • Ideal candidate is Must produce results and be action-oriented; leadership skills and the ability to present well at a high level is required.
  • Must be a proactive individual w/ strong ability to build and maintain relationships with all business leaders across all divisions.
  • Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) Preferred or
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Preferred
