Summary:

The Senior Manager, Operations - AK Shoreplant will report to the Director of Operations and is responsible for the overall operation of the production department, strategy development, and providing functional direction to supervisors. A high focus on Continuous Improvement (CI) activity is a key responsibility of the position. This is a great opportunity to lead CI and to play a leading role in delivering and sustaining, profitable growth while prioritizing safety and championing a healthy work culture.

Essential functions (responsibilities, tasks, supervisory needs):

  • Collaborate with Director of Operations to set strategic goals and vision for the site as well as short and long-term plant goals.
  • Direct all activities related to operations and production in accordance with Global Supply Chain's business plan and the strategic goals of the Company and business units.
  • Direct and manage the overall production plan for the operation, including supervising the day-to-day operations that come with implementation.
  • Collaborates with facility managers to offer direction and ensure alignment with company objectives across all departments regarding determination of materials, space, equipment, and personnel needs as well as the development and implementation of processes, procedures, assignment and execution of functional responsibilities, and determination of budget and costs constraints.
  • Evaluate performance against production goals and adjust the allocation of resources (e.g., personnel, equipment, materials) as needed to optimize quality and quantity of production and cost-efficiency of operations.
  • Initiate and ensure execution of Continuous Improvement activities in pursuit of Trident Global Supply Chain goals and objectives. This includes TPS implementation, SCUBA initiatives, other Operational Excellence activities as well as acting as a liaison between OpEx Team and plant improvement teams.
  • Manage direct reports, assign work to staff, provide coaching and training, set goals, is accountable for performance evaluation, plan staff development, and assist with people management decisions.
  • Maintain a safe work environment, deliver organizational safety goals, implement, and adhere to Trident Safety Program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Acquires knowledge of Trident's Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions.
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings.
Minimum Requirements

Required Qualifications (education, years of experience, KSAs):

  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor`s degree and eight years of related experience
  • 5 years supervision/leadership experience.
  • Prior Continuous Improvement (CI) experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Continuous Improvement / Lean manufacturing experience is a must.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office programs.
  • Must be flexible, innovative, and comfortable in setting own priorities and driving same to the production floor.
  • Able to work both independently and within a team generating results with general/minimal guidance.

Preferred education and experience:

  • Green Belt or higher certification

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

Subject to long periods of standing may be required. You will be exposed to cold, wet conditions. In the facilities, you are often subject to noise, moving machinery, and conveyor belts.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

The employee moves objects regularly up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Must be capable of boarding and departing (exiting) a vessel without assistance by moving up or climbing a gangplank, the stern ramp of a vessel and/or a vertical ladder. Must be capable of boarding/departing the vessel by being lifted in a crane or manlift. May also enter and exit a skiff from a dock, plane, or a boat unassisted. Must meet at designated locations to receive instructions and place on a life jacket and an immersion suit without assistance in one minute or less. Must also move quickly without assistance to any designated lifeboat station.
