POSITION SPECIFICS

The Office of Budget and Finance invites applications for the position of a Financial Associate to support financial operations across the University. This position is initially intended to support financial operations within the College of Health and Human Development (HHD), School of Hospitality Management. The incumbent will serve as the primary point of contact for all expense-related matters and represent the unit at business-related events.

The Financial Associate will have a broad range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Initiating reports on monthly budget balances and advising on matters related to expected financial transactions for faculty
  • Comprehensive financial support for the school, including processing travel check requests, reconciling direct billing charges, reconciling interdepartmental transfers, and completing journal vouchers
  • Assisting in timely reconciliation of purchasing card transactions, using SAP Concur
  • Processing purchase orders and various catalog orders, including confirming receipt of Goods/Services
  • Providing excellent customer service and advising on policy and procedures - consulting with Administrative Manager and Financial Officer for resolution as needed

The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent customer service skills with a focus on providing supportive and responsive service
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team
  • Team player attitude with a commitment to creating a positive and efficient working environment
  • Knowledge of the University's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, System for Integrated Management, Budgeting, and Accounting - SIMBA (SAP/S4HANA) and SAP Concur desired; however, displaying a willingness to learn is more important

This position will be filled at the Intermediate Support level.

This position offers a flexible work arrangement that combines remote and on-campus work. This position will initially work in the office four days a week with one remote day weekly. Questions related to flexible work should be directed to the hiring manager during the interview process.

Penn State is embarking on a project to restructure the University's financial functions to move towards a centralized, service hub-based structure. This position is intended to initially support the unit(s) and functions listed in this posting, however it is expected to evolve over time relative to the overall restructuring. MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. Due to the financial and fiduciary responsibilities of this position, successful completion of a credit history check will be required in addition to standard background checks. SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $38,300.00 - $55,500.00.
