General Summary

Under general supervision but in compliance with the parent company and CUSO policies and procedures, oversees the services offered by CU Strategic Services. Responsible for supervision of CUSO employees. Manages significant commercial lending account interactions including commercial loan underwriting, portfolio loan reviews, and participation placement and review. Work alongside CUSO President to grow the CUSO client base and generate increased revenue. This may include travel and overnight stays of approximately 30%.

Major Duties & Responsibilities



  • As a member of the leadership team, working with the CUSO President to meet established goals for growth, profitability, and strategic objectives.


  • Oversees the work of the CUSO credit employees. Evaluates the job performance of each subordinate employee on an annual basis. Makes recommendations regarding performance improvements, assigns specific projects, and establishes departmental goals. Exercises authority with respect to performance appraisals and disciplinary actions.


  • Independently complete reviews of complex commercial loans and review those completed by staff to ensure underwriting and credit analysis is sound and completed within industry standards, credit risks are identified and when appropriate, any mitigants are identified.


  • Analyze and understand financial data, collateral documentation, and other credit issues. This process includes analyzing financial data and collateral documentation to determine the cash flow and ability to repay debt and gauging the quality and collectability of collateral.


  • Make loan participation presentations to the participant and even Board of Directors for approval as required. This may include presentations to other credit union boards.


  • Utilize UCA cash flow analysis to appropriately underwrite operating entities and have the ability to describe working capital cycles and compare data to RMA.


  • Proficient in SBA lending and the ability to work with client credit unions to ensure loans are underwritten to SBA standards.


  • Develops, maintains, and monitors the company's loan risk rating systems and works with other credit unions' risk rating matrices to identify risk for each credit underwritten.


  • Works with client credit unions and CUSO staff to ensure contract underwriting is completed in accordance with company quality and deliverable standards.


  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to provide leadership and supervision to ensure maximum productivity.


  • Works closely with and keeps the CEO informed of all major issues within credit administration.


  • Work independently with minimal supervision but also be willing to work as part of a team, multitask, and willing to do whatever is necessary to complete a project


  • Provide training to participating credit unions along with various other partners and CU$$ staff as needed. Speak at conferences when necessary to help build the brand of the CUSO.


  • Complies with all applicable Rules, Regulations and Statutes of the NCUA and other appropriate governing bodies to include but not limited to: the parent company Bylaws, Bank Secrecy Act, Fair Housing Act, Fair Lending Act, and Fair Credit Reporting.

Experience and Skills

Education: Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or related field or commensurate experience.

Experience: Minimum of six (6)+ years of progressively responsible experience in commercial lending functions and credit administration within financial institutions.

Skills: Knowledgeable in all aspects of commercial lending. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, business relations, and communication skills. Proficient in Office Suite; (Word, Excel, Power Point). Must be social media savvy and able to update the company's social media accounts regularly with direction from the CEO.

Supervisory: Minimum three (3) years of supervisory experience required.

Location: Remote opportunities in the following states only: Metropolitan Area (DC, MD, VA) $131,234.13 - $196,851.20, CT, FL, IL, LA, MA, NC, SC, TX, New York, NY $132,296.76 - $198,445.14, and Seattle, WA $125,389.70 - $188,084.55.
