A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN OUTDOOR RECREATION PROJECT MANAGER

As a Project Manager in our Outdoor Recreation department, you'll spend each day shaping the parks, trails, and open spaces that define our communities. From the first client meeting to the ribbon-cutting, you'll guide projects that connect people with the outdoors and enhance their recreational experiences.

A Day in the Life
You'll start your day collaborating with clients, municipal representatives, and our in-house design team to refine the vision for a new trail system or park renovation. Midday might find you reviewing grading plans for a trail alignment, ensuring ADA accessibility, or coordinating with civil and landscape architects to balance aesthetics with function of a municipality's primary outdoor gathering space. Later, you'll visit a construction site to assess progress, discuss solutions with contractors, and confirm that work aligns with design intent and budget goals.

Throughout the process, you'll serve as the primary point of contact-managing scope, schedule, and budget while maintaining strong communication between stakeholders. You'll also apply your technical expertise in areas such as stormwater management, landscape design, and park utility planning to ensure every detail contributes to a safe, sustainable, and enjoyable public space.

Success in this role means leading multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects that make a visible, lasting impact on communities-transforming ideas into vibrant outdoor destinations where people gather, play, and explore.
