Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to support electrical operations at a cement manufacturing project near Avon Park, FL, with the flexibility to travel to additional project sites as needed. This is a 1099 subcontractor position for individuals experienced in motors, starters, relays, and control systems in industrial environments. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, safety-focused, and capable of working independently to ensure electrical systems are installed and maintained to the highest standards. This role includes a 24-hour on-call availability requirement to respond to urgent electrical needs and minimize operational downtime.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical wiring, conduit, motors, starters, relays, and control systems in an industrial setting
  • Support operations at the Avon Park cement project, including repair and maintenance of production equipment
  • Interpret blueprints, electrical diagrams, and schematics to complete installations and repairs
  • Conduct inspections, perform diagnostics, and test systems using appropriate tools and equipment
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize equipment downtime
  • Ensure work is performed in compliance with NEC, local codes, and OSHA safety standards
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and inspections completed
  • Coordinate with site supervisors and other trades to support overall project and facility needs
  • Be available for 24-hour on-call support to address urgent electrical issues and support continuous operations
  • Travel to other job sites as required



Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training or electrical apprenticeship preferred
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial electrical work, ideally in a plant or heavy manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including motors, starters, relays, and control panels
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a subcontractor capacity
  • Proficiency with electrical hand and power tools, conduit bending, and system diagnostics
  • Familiarity with high-voltage systems and industrial automation is a plus
  • Must supply own tools and transportation
  • Willingness to travel and work in various locations as project needs arise
  • Ability to respond to emergency service calls outside of regular business hours



Preferred Qualifications:



  • NCCER certification or equivalent credentials
  • Experience in Industrial electrical systems
  • Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, and automated control systems
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus



Work Environment:



  • Industrial and construction site conditions, both indoor and outdoor
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures
  • Regularly requires physical activity such as climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory



Physical Demands & Work Environment

This office-based role requires frequent computer use and effective communication, with occasional travel to project sites as needed. Site visits may involve extended periods of standing or walking and required PPE, with potential exposure to heavy equipment, chemicals, dust, fumes, uneven terrain, and extreme weather.
