Job Description

The Business Banker is responsible for managing, retaining and expanding a portfolio of Business Banking clients as defined from time to time. The position's primary emphasis is on growing client relationships and sales of First American Bank's Business Banking and Treasury Management products. In addition, the Business Banker partners with other lines of business to support the goals of First American Bank.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Identify and generate new Business Banking client relationships to meet the monthly loan and deposit goals through sales calls, referrals and networking both internally and externally.
  • Manage a Business Banking portfolio as assigned to retain and expand the client relationships through regular contact and servicing.
  • Administer the portfolio such that all applicable loan and credit policies are followed to ensure that the risk of loss is reduced and/or identified early.
  • Duties will include past due and matured note management, collecting loan exceptions and annual reviews as required.
  • Analyze new credit requests, assist with loan write-ups and make recommendations in line with bank policy and prudent lending.
  • Adhere to all bank policies related to lending and depository compliance including but not limited to the Community Reinvestment Act, Fair Lending Act, Bank Secrecy Act and all other applicable regulations.
  • Collaborate and build relationships with other lines of business to increase market share of all First American Bank's products and services.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience with emphasis on finance and accounting is required.
  • Minimum of five years of business banking or related experience in financial services industry is required.
  • Must have proven record of successfully selling to commercial and business banking customers.
  • Must have commercial relationship management experience and ability to review and discuss financial condition and structure of loan relationships.
  • Must be professional, comfortable speaking with external and internal contacts with a demonstrated ability to tailor the message appropriately to the audience and situation effectively.
  • Spanish speaking highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to convey thoughts and ideas effectively and succinctly via written formats, including emails, letters, and electronic platforms. Maintain professional standards relating to spelling and grammar.
  • Maintain credibility through professional demeanor, appearance, and presence by modeling standards appropriate to our environment and industry.
  • Maintain good working relationships with internal partners by exhibiting exemplary interpersonal skills, adopting a constructive, solutions-focused approach.
  • Use sound professional judgment to balance the interests of the organization and customer, understanding and using available resources to mitigate risks.
  • Cold calling sales ability, with assertive, positive, and persistent style.
  • Ability to relay technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 products and applications, including the ability to effectively prepare or review documents, procedures, and reports. Must be proficient in Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems and applications, as well as the ability to understand, adapt and adjust responsibilities/workflows as a result of system upgrades.
  • This position requires regular travel to corporate facilities and Bank locations throughout the Miami, Florida branch network.
  • Occasional out-of-state travel may be required.
  • Typical schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Additional hours may be required depending upon business need.
  • Punctuality is required to maintain First American Bank's customer service standards.
