The Opportunity

As a member of the Student Affairs team, the Student Accessibility Manager (SAM) will report to the Assistant Director of Student Accessibility Services. The SAM is responsible for supporting Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide students with disabilities by providing individualized accommodation and services to ensure equal access to educational opportunities. This individual will assess student needs through review and evaluation of supportive documentation and intake appointments, develop support plans, manage confidential student records, maintain detailed accurate records, and present resources. The SAM will also be expected to perform administrative and training functions and collaborate with faculty and staff to create an inclusive academic environment.

The SAM will be tasked with removing barriers for students with disabilities and ensuring equal opportunity and accessibility to Post-Secondary Education while supporting student access, retention, and engagement. The SAM will collaborate with Student Affairs team members to develop, implement and evaluate innovative programs and services that provide support for the diverse student population at ERAU-WW.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Social work or any related field.

Required skills, knowledge, abilities:

  • Interpersonal: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students, faculty and staff
  • Organizational: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and maintain detailed and accurate records
  • Knowledgeable: Familiarity with disability laws (e.g, ADA, Section 504) and best practices in accessibility and accommodations. Familiarity with FERPA and management of confidential information.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to assess complex situations and develop effective solutions tailored to individual needs
  • Cultural Competence: Understanding of diverse backgrounds and the ability to create an inclusive environment
  • Technical: Proficiency using data management systems

Additional comments regarding education/experience requirements:

  • 1-3 years of work related experience in Student Support, preferred
  • Bachelor required; Masters preferred
  • Experience in a higher education setting, preferred
  • Experience working with military students, preferred
