The Lead Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse is responsible for overseeing the activities of the WOC team in collaboration with the Manager/Director of the Resource Support Unit to meet patient care, department and system goals. The Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (WOC) Lead functions as an integral member of the patient care team by providing education and specialized direct nursing care to a specific population of patients with stomas, fistulas, pressure injury, drains, incontinence or other complex skin/wound impairments when consulted by providers and/or bedside nurse. The WOC RN Lead collaborates with the attending provider, Wound Medical Director, Medical Director of Podiatry or Specialist physicians to meet complex healing and education needs for these populations. The WOC RN provides education to nursing staff to enhance their skills in risk recognition and maintenance of skin integrity and skills to provide care and education for these patient populations. The WOC RN develops plans of care, evaluates achievement of nursing outcomes, revises plans and monitors the ongoing quality of care given to these patients.

Qualifications

  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing and pursuing a Masters in Nursing degree to be complete within 18 months of employment
  • 2 years inpatient clinical experience
  • Prior wound/ostomy experience
  • RN License in good standing in the state of Wisconsin
  • Graduate of WOCNCB accredited professional certification program
Preferred
  • Masters in Nursing
  • Epic documentation and report experience

**Must be available for Nursing Orientation during the day shift the first 2 weeks of employment.**
