Job Description |
HCC's Early Learning Center provides full-day and half-day preschool for two-, three-, and four-year-olds. The Early Learning Center Teacher leads students in class activities that foster the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child; assesses progression; provides additional assistance when needed; maintains a safe, clean environment that meets
HCC standards and
OCC regulations; and completing required documentation and paperwork.
Duties include, but are not limited to, planning and implementing creative curriculum activities and assignments that are clear, well organized, and designed to meet long-range learning objectives for students; communicating regularly with children, parents, and staff members; participating in staff meetings, special events, parents-teacher conferences, and trainings as assigned; measuring student proficiency using various assessment tools and providing additional assistance for children as needed; completing weekly lesson plans, reports, observations, behavior reports, incident reports, and other required documentation; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education |
- High school diploma or GED.
- 90-hour preschool teaching certificate

Required Experience |
Minimum of 1 year of experience working with preschool-age children. |
Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities |
- Ability to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to participate in physical fitness activities including walking, running, jumping, dancing, and organized games.
- Ability to stand for at least 45 minutes in both cold and hot weather extremes.
- Ability to complete annual continuing education units as specified by the OCC.
- Ability to learn and perform all essential job functions accurately.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with children in an MSDE-approved setting as a lead teacher
- Associates degree or BA in related field
- Hold valid CPR and First Aid certification
- Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) credential at Level 2, willing to apply for credentialing once the State approves
