Job Description: As a Field Principal Engineer - Supplier Development, you will leverage your expertise with a high degree of autonomy to elevate engineering performance and implement impactful improvements at your assigned supplier's facilities. You will own the comprehensive transverse engineering perspective for this specific supplier, leading efforts in key areas such as their technical development, strategic alignment, project leadership, milestone planning, resource management, and process excellence. Ensure measurable improvements in key supplier engineering metrics (e.g.,achieving and exceeding on-time and on-quality delivery targets), implementation of corrective and preventive actions, successful execution of supplier development plans, best practices implemented at supplier sites. Tailored supplier development plans with clear objectives and timelines, documented assessments of supplier engineering capabilities, effective training programs delivered, progress reports on supplier development initiatives, strong collaborative relationships with supplier engineering leadership. Successfully executed engineering improvement projects at supplier sites, detailed project plans and timelines, effective risk mitigation strategies, regular project status reports, achievement of project objectives within scope and budget. Consolidated reports and analyses of supplier engineering performance across programs and products, identification of common trends and issues, standardized metrics and reporting mechanisms, proactive communication of key insights to internal stakeholders, facilitation of cross-program learning and best practice sharing. Verification of supplier engineering alignment with company strategic goals, implementation of standardized and improved engineering processes at suppliers, documented adherence to quality standards and regulatory requirements, participation in strategic planning with a supplier engineering perspective, successful process audits and improvement initiatives.
Your boarding pass:
Bachelor's degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering. 13+ years of relevant experience in the aerospace industry; Core Engineering Principles & Process Optimization: Solid understanding of fundamental engineering principles relevant to the company's products and manufacturing processes, coupled with the ability to analyze and improve these processes. Strong technical knowledge in relevant cabin engineering and Airbus cabin related PMT (e.g., VT3, PDMlink, ICC, ASR, ABD100, GRESS/GRAMS...). Experience working with international suppliers. You are a person with initiative, good planning and communication skills, strong sense of responsibility, capable of working in a multidisciplinary team under high pressure and have good judgment. Physical Requirements:
Onsite or remote: This position is based out of our Mobile, AL office but will be 75% onsite at various supplier locations. Vision: able to see and read computer screens and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Hearing: able to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on the production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Equipment Operation (personal computer, telephone, copies, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors): able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment and some tools including production tools such as hydraulic lifts. Carrying: able to carry documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Lifting: able to lift documents, tools, drawings, electronic equipment up to 30lbs/14kgs. Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on the computer. Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on the production floor. Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Walking (include routine walking such as to a shared printer to retrieve documents): able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Personal Protective Equipment required: Required PPE includes, but is not limited to, Safety Shoes, Safety Glasses, Hearing Protection, Respirators/Masks, and/or Protective Gloves as required by site and/or customer site
