Human Resources Generalist Northern California Bay Area Hybrid (Stockton, Concord, Monterey, Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara, Ventura) $60,000 to $70,000 DOE
The Human Resources Generalist provides support across a variety of HR functions, ensuring smooth daily operations of the Human Resources department. This role assists with recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, and recordkeeping. The HR Generalist also services as a resource for employees and management, helping foster a positive and compliant workplace.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
- Assist with recruitment efforts to maintain a minimum of 95% of staffing levels by meeting with leaders to develop specific recruiting plans to facilitate efficient staffing/recruiting plans.
- Researches, analyzes, prepares and presents hiring statistics.
- Measures staffing resources efficiency. Assist in screening, interviews, and new employee onboarding.
- Conduct wage surveys within local labor market
- Reviews reference and background checks to ensure policy adherence.
- Responsible for HR administration including but not limited to HRIS data integrity and recordkeeping.
- Assist in providing training for HRIS, policy adherence, and department compliance
- Respond to local state unemployment claims
- May participate in employee relation investigations, including interviewing, documenting investigations and assisting leadership in corrective actions as needed.
- Support benefit enrollment processes and respond to basic benefit-related questions.
- Assist with payroll questions, conduct audits related to employment or pay issues.
- Provide general support for employee relations and assisting in answering questions and direct employee to appropriate resources.
- Approximately 10-15% travel.
QUALIFICATIONS Education/Licensing/Certification:
- HS Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business, Sociology, or related preferred.
- PHR preferred.
- A minimum of two (2) years of human resources or related experience.
- Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Basic knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices preferred.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience with HRIS systems (preferred but not required)
