Minimum Qualifications
Requires at least a baccalaureate degree in the field. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or a related field and a minimum of five years of progressive experience managing a dynamic portfolio of programs and services. Experience in supervising, budgeting, event management, assessment, advising student governance organizations, and leading collaborative efforts is preferred.
Position Summary
The Associate Director is an integral part of Engagement, Leadership, and Service and reports to the Director of Engagement, Leadership, and Service. This position is primarily responsible for serving in the absence of the director; managing the oversight of the Student Engagement and Leadership portfolios; advising the Student Government Association and Graduate Student Association; managing and facilitation of departmental assessments efforts; and supporting donor stewardship efforts.

Administrative Duties and Management:

  • Serve in the absence of the Director and be responsible for the supervision and management of two ELS units-leadership, and student engagement. These units include signature experiences such as the coordination of student leadership development, the annual Student Leadership Conference, Leadership UGA, student organization registration, student organization development, training, and policy compliance, Engagement Fairs, and the Student Engagement Awards.
  • Actively promotes and participates in the development, retention & engagement of the Assistant Director for Student Engagement, Assistant Director for Leadership; provides secondary supervisory support for the aforementioned direct reports.
  • Oversees and ensures financial compliance for student activity fee funds in excess of $120,000, as well as secondary support for all departmental private funds.
  • Serves on the University's Freedom of Expression Team.

Duties/Responsibilities
Advising and Student Leadership Development:

  • Serves as the primary advisor to the Graduate Student Association to include assisting with the operational success of the organization and oversight of their expenditure of funds.
  • Serve as the day-to-day administrative advisor to the Student Government Association to include oversight of their expenditure of funds, as well as stewardship efforts for the SGA foundation account; attend and support the SGA-facilitated All-Campus Allocations and One-Time Allocation processes; provide oversight of the SGA Professional Clothing Closet and SGA Fresh Express Food Pantry initiatives to include operational success, and campus collaboration.

  • Facilitate annual assessment practices of the department to include university/division competencies, consistency of learning outcomes, and measurement of key performance indicators.
