BACKGROUND

Classical Studies at Trinity is a vibrant department with six tenured / tenure-track faculty and strong connections with other departments on campus, including Anthropology, Art History, Philosophy, and Religion. We encourage our students to pursue undergraduate research, often in collaboration with faculty, and we have been active participants in our university's summer undergraduate research program. The department participates in a faculty-led study abroad summer course in Rome and in a faculty-led archaeological dig in Cyprus. In addition, Trinity has just completed a major renovation project that has created appealing new spaces for the Classical Studies department and several other adjacent humanities departments.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching: Teach both lower and upper-level courses in the candidate's area of interest and expertise. Offer courses that complement departmental offerings and contribute to the Pathways general education curriculum, including the First Year Experience, under a (typically) 3-2 teaching load. Advise departmental majors and minors.

Research: Maintain a consistent and productive program of scholarship, to include publication of research, presentations of papers at academic conferences, attendance at professional meetings, and participation in professional organizations.

Service: Provide appropriate service to the department, the university, and the profession.

Enthusiasm for teaching a variety of courses at a highly selective undergraduate institution, including Latin at all levels. Ability to teach Ancient Greek through the intermediate level. Interest in mentoring undergraduate research, including in the summer.
