GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Associate, ABL Underwriting works with primary responsibility for supporting teams through the underwriting and overall execution process for asset-based transactions at Fifth Third Bank. The team will be primarily comprised of existing ABL professionals within Fifth Third. The ABL team will be responsible for pitching, structuring, and executing ABL solutions across the entire Fifth Third Commercial Bank platform.

Focused on supporting all aspects of underwriting and deal execution including deal screening, credit review, loan approval preparation and presentation to credit teams, funding and operations and loan system setup and administration.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Accountable for always doing the right thing for customers and colleagues and ensures that actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. While operating within the Bank's risk appetite, achieves results by consistently identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The team will be responsible for pitching, structuring, and executing ABL transactions to targeted Fifth Third clients.
  • Support day-to-day coverage, origination, and transaction management responsibilities for existing and prospective clients including covered Sponsors.
  • Prioritize and support a pipeline of ABL financing opportunities.
  • Supports underwriting approval and loan closing processes including loan systems setup and administration and preparation of presentation materials for credit approval.
  • Ability to support multiple opportunities, partnerships and routines with key internal deal team members.
  • Apply knowledge of credit analysis, asset-based lending and capital markets activity.
  • Required to successfully complete all required compliance training.

SUPERVISORY RESPONIBILITIES:

  • May include direct or indirect supervision and direction of the day-to-day activities of junior ABL professionals
  • May provide employee performance feedback.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree required, ideally with concentration in Business, Finance or Accounting.
  • 3+ years credit analysis and/or loan review or underwriting experience in Commercial Banking.
  • 1+ years of experience in an Asset Based Lending environment, in underwriting or field examination, or as a loan officer; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of asset-based lending, private equity, capital markets, merger and acquisition structures, and experience with credit analysis is a plus.
  • Familiarity with credit policies, procedures, and terminology.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Experience in originating and executing complex financial transactions is a plus.
  • Analytical skills, critical thinking and verbal and written communication skills.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel spreadsheet software. Proficient with technology and ability to learn new applications including commercial loan administration systems.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature and the like.
  • Extended viewing of a CRT screen.
  • Some travel required.
Associate, ABL Underwriting Total Base Pay Range 80,500.00 - 169,100.00 USD Annual

The base salary for this position is reflective of the range of salary levels for all roles within this pay grade across the U.S. Individual salaries within this range will vary based on factors such as role, relevant skillset, relevant experience, education and geographic location. In addition to the base salary, this role is eligible to participate in an incentive compensation plan, with any such payment based upon company, line of business and/or individual performance.
