DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision of the Cancer Center Services management team, the Lead Infusion & Clinic Coordinator supports operations across Multispecialty Cancer Clinics and Infusion Centers as needed in all areas including Clinical Care Coordinator desks, Call Center and Cancer Center clinic areas in various locations. The Lead Infusion & Clinic Coordinator is responsible for oversight of the complex infusion and clinic patient appointment scheduling process within Epic. Takes a lead role to ensure staff is trained and coached in the infusion and clinic scheduling process. Assists in the development and improvement of the scheduling process in the Infusion Center. In conjunction with the Infusion Center and Cancer Service teams establishes standards and procedures to maintain patient infusion and clinic schedules and identify opportunities for more efficient and greater patient care delivery related to appointments and scheduling. Acts as a liaison between Infusion Center staff, Cancer Services teams and UC San Diego fellow employees, i.e., Physicians, Case Managers, etc. Leads quality assurance efforts and serves as a front-line customer service representative for all scheduling issues and patient complaints/problem resolution in all clinic areas and the call center. Makes recommendations for improvement of processes. The Lead Infusion & Clinic Coordinator is responsible for a variety of responsibilities in support of patient services within clinical and call center areas including; greeting patients, arriving patients for their appointments, registration updates, insurance and authorization verification, audit billing documents, co-pay collection, answering patient phone calls and providing assistance as needed. Maintains a high level of professionalism in communicating with patients, subordinates, peers and physicians. Performs other lead duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Three (3) years Patient Scheduling experience in large, complex healthcare environment.

  • Expert knowledge of Epic/Cadence.

  • Experience with insurance and authorization.

  • Possess demonstrated knowledge of third party payors including federal, state, and private health plans.

  • Medical terminology training or certificate.

  • Demonstrated problem solving ability by using good judgement and applying these skills to customer and ensure expectations are met.

  • Demonstrated ability to independently set priorities in order to meet established deadlines.

  • Ability to work effectively in a high volume environment.

  • Highly proficient with MS Office: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word, etc.

  • Familiar with hospital patient access systems.

  • Superior customer service skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced knowledge of Infusion Scheduling/Oncology.

  • Medical terminology training or certificate, Oncology specific.

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

  • Monday - Friday work schedule with occasional weekend availability as required.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $66,169 - $82,309 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $31.69 - $39.42

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
