Are you ready to lead the operational excellence of enterprise applications and drive the reliability, scalability, and performance of critical systems?

Ciena is seeking an accomplished Manager, Service Reliability Engineering to oversee production support for a diverse portfolio of applications, including Salesforce, Oracle EBS, Mulesoft, Oracle Integration Cloud, ServiceNow, OTM, GTM, and custom solutions. In this strategic leadership role, you will guide a high-performing team, collaborate across departments, and champion innovation and continuous improvement in application support processes.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing Application Support team focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Define and implement strategic goals for the team, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and business needs.

  • Design, implement, and manage robust infrastructure solutions to ensure scalability and reliability of critical systems.

  • Establish proactive monitoring strategies to identify and address issues before they impact users.

  • Lead incident response efforts during service disruptions, ensuring swift resolution and clear communication.

  • Drive root cause analysis for system failures and implement long-term solutions to enhance reliability.

  • Champion automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual interventions.

  • Identify opportunities for innovation, applying cutting-edge technologies to enhance system reliability and user experience.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align reliability goals and integrate best practices across the software lifecycle.

  • Ensure comprehensive system documentation to support efficient troubleshooting and knowledge sharing.

The Must Haves:

  • Proven experience managing highly available systems, including cloud-based infrastructure.

  • Deep knowledge of system performance optimization, troubleshooting methodologies, and industry best practices.

  • Proficiency in programming and scripting for automation.

  • Familiarity with monitoring tools, incident management platforms, and metrics analysis.

  • Solid understanding of cloud platforms, databases, CI/CD pipelines, distributed systems, and security protocols.

  • Strong communication skills to engage stakeholders and cross-functional teams effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in high-pressure situations with methodical problem-solving approaches.

  • Analytical mindset to interpret data and metrics for informed decision-making.

  • Proactive ownership to identify opportunities for improvement and anticipate challenges.

  • Systemic thinking to design resilient solutions with long-term sustainability.

The Assets:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Certifications in cloud platforms or IT service management.

  • Experience with enterprise-level applications and large-scale systems.

Pay Range:

USD: $119,400.00 - $190,700.00

CDN: $107,800.00 - $172,200.00

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
