Overview

Our Commercial Real Estate team is expanding in Madison! Johnson Financial Group is offering an exciting opportunity for you to join our Madison Commercial Real Estate team as a CRE Portfolio Manager. We are seeking someone eager to embrace this role with a clear growth path towards becoming a Relationship Manager in the future.

Under the guidance of the Madison SVP Commercial Banking Regional Manager, the CRE Portfolio Manager is responsible for supporting CRE Relationship Mangers (RMs) through the sales, credit, closing and life of loan processes. In addition, they're responsible for interim monitoring of covenants and other conditions of credit, ensuring timely review and renewal of CRE loans, and property site inspections. They will accompany RMs on business development calls and client meetings, participate in CRE trade groups and events, and provide support to the CRE Senior Manager on portfolio management efforts. They'll have the opportunity to own a book of business; developing, growing and managing a portfolio of profitable CRE relationships. It's expected that this individual will transition to a Relationship Manager within 18-24 months.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Knowledge of Commercial Real Estate market trends, including ability to analyze market factors such as rents, occupancy, and competition; assessment of risk and mitigation thereof.
  • Responsible for ordering and reviewing appraisals and environmental reports, conducting property site inspections, and understanding construction loan monitoring.
  • Complete and ensure timely Discussion Memos, Loan Presentations, Annual Reviews, and PMACs, avoiding administrative past due loans.
  • Participate in Credit Committee presentations and periodic reviews for clients requiring frequent monitoring.
  • Collaborate with RMs to address changes in loan structure due to borrower or market conditions.
  • Assist with engaging legal counsel, reviewing documents, closing transactions, and post-closing activities.
  • Manage portfolio covenants, collect client/borrower financials statements, and limit credit expectations.
  • Enhance customer experience, positioning JFG as the preferred financial services provider.
  • Actively participate in trade organizations and complete special projects.
  • Develop, manage, and grow assigned commercial real estate relationships to meet loan and deposit growth goals.
  • Originate and structure new and existing transactions, including SWAP-related credit facilities.
  • Engage legal counsel, review loan documents, and close transactions, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of JFG policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business with a focus on commercial real estate, finance, or accounting.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial real estate credit analysis, underwriting, or lending with the drive and career goal of growing into a Realtionship Manager role within 18-24 months.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial real estate lending policies, procedures, and bank regulatory guidelines.
  • Proficient in credit software and MS Office Applications (Word, Excel). Experienced in structuring, underwriting, and reviewing loan presentations, conducting cash flow analysis, and collateral evaluation.
  • Skilled in commercial real estate loan documentation, title work, and real estate law. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to make sound recommendations to senior management while adhering to bank policies.
  • Familiarity with commercial real estate industry trends and risk management.
