Lead Engineer, Cable Accessories

Position Summary:

The Lead Engineer will supervise engineering staff to provide a consistent and reliable custom product to G&W's customers. In addition to leadership responsibility, the Lead Engineer will document existing department processes and drive continuous improvement initiatives that meaningfully improve quality and customer service. This role will specialize in our entire catalog of cable accessories and current limiting products. G&W Electric is excited to engage a self-motivated and results-oriented individual to join our fast-paced, collaborative work environment that offers consistent learning opportunities and problem-solving experience. We are offering the unique responsibility to be a mentor and coach to our engineering team in the following:



  • Hold team accountable to maintaining alignment with industry standards (IEEE, NEC, IEC, ANSI, UL, NEMA, etc.)
  • Identify gaps in existing engineering design standards and work with Engineering staff to resolve those gaps
  • Schedule resource, provide scheduling solutions to customers, and provide project oversight/management as needed
  • Maintain departmental accountability to align with company goals and metrics
  • Mentor and maintain aptitude and quality across engineering team
  • Own design feasibility initiatives
  • Be a change agent in department and company by identifying and resolving root causes through problem solving activities
  • Lead, own, and delegate tasks to provide support for internal and external customers
  • Allocate technical support for company projects as needed
  • Drive strategic company initiatives through coordinating support, supplying communication, and nurturing innovation



Required Experience:



  • Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Strong Leadership experience in an operational environment
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a factory setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and has demonstrated presentation skills to diverse audiences
  • Strong problem-solving skills


Preferred Experience:




  • CAD Experience
  • Project Management , preferably Agile
  • Change Management Experience

    • Continuous improvement initiatives
    • Root Cause Analysis / Problem-Solving strategies


  • ISO Certified Manufacturing Environment Experience
  • Reliability Design Tools

    • Design For Manufacturability (DFM), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), Design of Experiments (DOE)


  • Experience with Oracle J.D. Edwards Business System
  • Experience with Industry Standards
  • Related power distribution experience
