Location: 22101 Moross Road Detroit, MI 48236 Inpatient/Outpatient: 100% inpatient Case Load: Mixture. Position Overview: Henry Ford Health is seeking a skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) for a contingent position in Neurosurgery at Henry Ford St. John Hospital in Detroit. This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing, collaborative neurosurgery team in a top-tier facility. Applicants must have at least one year of APP experience. Prior experience in neurosurgery and/or ICU settings is highly preferred. New graduates will not be considered. The ideal candidate is a motivated and adaptable clinician with a solid foundation in managing complex patients in high-acuity environments. Strong communication skills, clinical competence, and a team-oriented approach are essential. Schedule - 6p-6a or 6a-6p Weekend requirement - Yes, 1 shift per 6-week schedule. Call requirement - No. GENERAL SUMMARY: The Specialty/Invasive NP/PA will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The Specialty/Invasive NP/PA will be responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, consultation, and care coordination as a first line provider to patients and their families. Provides inpatient and/or outpatient medical care. Works in collaboration with attending physicians, advanced practice providers, consultants, house officers, nurses, and other members of the medical care team to ensure that patient outcomes are achieved safely and efficiently. Specific procedures as per credentialing as indicated by training and experience. Works in one of the following departments: Cardiovascular Medicine, Emergency Medicine, ICU, Interventional Radiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Oncology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Surgery, Urgent Care, Urology. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Master's degree in nursing OR Bachelor's Degree or Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant program. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Current certification as a Certified Nurse Practitioner. Current State license as a Registered Nurse. Current BLS. Current ACLS/ATLS/PALS provider status as required by department. OR Requires Michigan state licensure and continued certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Current ACLS/BLS as required. Current ATLS/PALS provider status as required. Qualifications: * NP - Completion of a Nurse Practitioner training program accredited by the Commission on the Collegiate of Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) * PA - Completion of a Physician Assistant training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) * NP - Certification by a certification body recognized by the State of Michigan * PA - Certification by National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Licensure and Certification * Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Michigan, or in process of applying (must have proof of application) * National certification as an NP or PA (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA) * Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification * Basic Life Support (BLS) certification * DEA/CSL, required through credentialing. DEA - NPs do not have controlled substance licenses, only PAs. When NPs apply, they will enter MI license number instead of controlled substance license since they won't have a CSL. Experience * Prior APP experience is highly preferred - at least 1 year. * ICU and/or neurosurgery experience highly recommended.
