Job Duties:
The Band Engagement Coordinator serves as a key resource for both the band and its individual student members, offering guidance on available campus resources and support services. This role contributes to the development of student leadership programs and recommends improvements to enhance the overall student experience. Additionally, the Coordinator assists in designing student-focused programming and related materials that promote educational initiatives and foster a vibrant, inclusive learning environment. The Band Engagement Coordinator's primary day-to-day activities will be overseen by the Director of the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, and they will co-report to the Director of Marching Bands. The Band Engagement Coordinator will be co-located at the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards and the School of Music. This position requires a flexible work schedule, including late evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Same-day and overnight travel will be required using various modes of transportation, including vehicle, bus, and airplane. The selected candidate will often need to work on game days (Saturdays) with early morning report times for noon games. The candidate must be able to work in a loud environment and may be exposed to extreme weather conditions on game days and during rehearsals, which could include hot and cold temperatures, rain, and snow. Key Job Responsibilities:
When incidents happen and University of Wisconsin students are involved, the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards (OSCCS) works with students to resolve academic and nonacademic disciplinary matters. This includes receiving reports of alleged misconduct, ensuring that students receive due process and fair treatment throughout the hearing process, and maintaining students' disciplinary records. The Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards upholds every student's right to learn in an inclusive community that fosters integrity through challenging and supporting students to reflect, integrate, and act on their Wisconsin Experience. We employ a compassionate, educational, and supportive manner in the student misconduct process. Our approach is to guide student behavior for the common good while respecting the rights and responsibilities of all members of the university community. OSCCS is part of Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, led by the vice chancellor for student affairs. Our staff is dedicated to serving students and to helping them succeed in and out of the classroom in areas including health and well-being, identity and inclusion, leadership and engagement, and student advocacy. Compensation:The expected minimum starting salary for this position is $56,112.00 annually. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications. Proven ability to manage groups and assist individual students; strong organizational skills; ability to work well with multiple stakeholders within a team environment; excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to maintain confidentiality and manage highly sensitive information. Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree and at least one year of experience in delivering training and monitoring compliance efforts; familiarity with specific reporting protocols and procedures in a large organization; or at least two years of experience working in a college, university, or academic setting with a Bachelor's degree. Education:A Bachelor's degree is required. A Master's degree is preferred. The degree should be in student development, college student personnel higher education administration, or a related field.
