    REPORTS TO This job reports to the Assistant Principal

    POSITION OBJECTIVE The job of Clerk 2 - Attendance is done for the purpose/s of performing all the day-to-day attendance transactions that support the student attendance system; ensuring compliance with state reporting and documenting requirements; conveying attendance related information to appropriate parties; and providing general clerical support, information and/or direction as may be assigned at assigned school site.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Community college and/or vocational school degree with study in job-related area.

    REQUIRED SKILLS:

    • Operate standard office equipment and relevant software applications

    • Prepare and maintain accurate records

    • Perform basic math calculations, including fractions, percents, and ratios

    • Read manuals, write documents in prescribed formats, and present information clearly

    • Understand and follow complex, multi-step written and oral instructions

    • Apply knowledge of student attendance codes, regulations, and laws

    • Demonstrate understanding of board policy and district, state, and federal regulations/laws

    • Use appropriate business telephone etiquette

    • Schedule activities and gather/collate data effectively

    • Work flexibly with others in varied circumstances and diverse groups

    • Analyze and solve problems by identifying issues and creating action plans

    • Interpret data independently as needed

    • Operate job-related equipment using defined methods

    • Work with detailed data and meet deadlines under minimal supervision

    • Communicate clearly in English with diverse groups

    • Set priorities and adapt to frequent interruptions

    • Maintain confidentiality and establish effective working relationships

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Inputs data into attendance software system for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of data.

    • Maintains a variety of confidential records for the purpose of documenting students attendance and classroom behavior.

    • Maintains automated student attendance system for the purpose of ensuring accurate tracking and documentation of student attendance.

    • Obtains attendance records for student entry and exit from campus during school hours for the purpose of ensuring accurate reporting of excused absences and truancies.

    • Performs general clerical functions for the purpose of providing to the substitutes proper attendance sheets for the day and entering the attendance for the substitutes.

    • Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit pertaining to District 219.

    • Prepares attendance-related reports and written materials for the purpose of conveying information regarding school and/or district activities and procedures.

    • Processes documents and materials for the purpose of disseminating information in compliance with established administrative guidelines.

    • Provides verbal or written feedback for the purpose of informing teachers and the Assistant Principals, of students behavior based on attendance.

    • Provides attendance daily reports and disseminates to all teachers for the purpose of accurate classroom attendance.

    • Researches discrepancies of attendance information and/or documentation for the purpose of ensuring accuracy of attendance data.

    • Responds questions from a variety of individuals for the purpose of providing information and/or directions as may be required.

    RESPONSIBILITY

    Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization's services.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT

    The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
