PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

The Supervisor Projects supports field engineering managers by planning, estimating, and coordinating track infrastructure projects across our Class I railroad network. This role is responsible for managing capital and maintenance programs, ensuring compliance with the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations and internal engineering standards, and delivering projects that enhance safety, reliability, and operational efficiency.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Collaborate with engineering managers to scope, estimate, and schedule track construction and maintenance projects
  • Manage SAP project networks and procurement processes for materials and contractor services
  • Review and process contractor invoices in alignment with project scope and contract terms
  • Prepare monthly financial reports including budget forecasts and accruals
  • Oversee track infrastructure projects up to $5M in size
  • Conduct monthly capital budget reviews and support annual planning for future work
  • Coordinate with contractors and internal teams to ensure safe, timely, and high-quality project delivery

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in railroad engineering, track construction, or infrastructure project management
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SAP or similar project management systems
  • Valid driver's license

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

Medical and Drug Testing

This is a safety sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company or regulated drug test is required. Post hire qualification drug testing may also be required.

Management Conductor Program

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
