Position Summary
Production Supervisor to lead and manage the operations of our umbilical manufacturing division in Panama City. This role is critical to ensuring the seamless execution of production processes, maintaining the highest quality standards, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership abilities, a strong technical background, and a passion for driving operational excellence in a fast-paced, precision-driven environment. Provides direction and has authority for personnel actions and oversees day to day operations ensuring the work is performed safely with the highest quality, lowest cost and on time. Reviews production schedules, material and manpower resources'; assigns employees to maximize objectives while maintaining quality and output requirements. Participates in determining operational methods and processes and recommends changes. Maintains a variety of reports, records and documentation to reflect schedules and performance. This person must develop a culture of Continuous Improvement throughout workforce and clearly demonstrate where Continuous Improvement has impact. Demonstrate support of Lean approach to manufacturing (6S, Standard Work, SQDIP,) and continuous improvement activities (root cause investigation, countermeasure development).
Duties And Responsibilities
- Production Management: Oversee and coordinate all aspects of daily production activities, ensuring that schedules are met, resources are optimized, and production goals are consistently achieved. Monitor workflows to identify and address inefficiencies, ensuring smooth operations and timely delivery of products.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of production staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Provide clear direction, set performance expectations, and conduct regular evaluations to support professional growth and development.
- Process Improvement: Analyze current manufacturing processes and identify opportunities for improvement. Implement innovative solutions to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve overall operational efficiency.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all products meet or exceed quality standards by implementing rigorous quality control measures. Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address any deviations and maintain compliance with Oceaneering and industry quality Standards.
- Safety and Compliance: Promote a culture of safety by enforcing strict adherence to health and safety protocols. Conduct regular safety audits, provide training, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Conduct SQDIP meetings on a daily bases.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, procurement, and logistics teams to align production goals with organizational objectives. Facilitate effective communication and coordination to address challenges and optimize resource allocation.
- Data Management and Reporting: View and understand records of production metrics, priorities, inventory levels, and equipment maintenance schedules. Prepare detailed shift handover reports to communicate the ongoing status of working to the plan.
- Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve production-related issues, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational continuity. Utilize analytical skills to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and implement corrective actions.
- Employee Engagement: Foster a positive workplace culture by recognizing achievements, addressing concerns, and encouraging open communication. Act as a role model for professionalism and dedication to excellence.
Qualifications
REQUIRED:
- Minimum 2-5 years experience supervising manufacturing operations is required.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Management, or a related field. Equivalent experience in a similar role
- Ability to work daily, 2pm to 11pm with potential to cover rotating shifts and weekends as assigned.
- Must work independently with limited supervision.
- Capable of assigning work to hourly workforce and holding employees accountable for following processes pertaining to daily work assignments in terms safety, quality, and throughput.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage diverse teams effectively. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to motivate and inspire employees to achieve their best.
- Ability to multi-task and manage work stoppages and slow-downs caused by equipment or product.
- Strong conflict resolution skills.
- Intermediate working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Projects). Proficiency in using production management software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools to monitor and optimize operations.
- Analytical mindset with a proven track record of identifying and resolving complex production challenges.
- A results-oriented approach with a strong focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Direct experience in the implementation of continuous improvement tools and principles in both manufacturing and business processes.
- Continuous Improvement (CI), training in Lead/Six Sigma preferred.
DESIRED:
- 5 years experience in supervision within a manufacturing operation required.
- Experience in umbilical or cable production preferred.
