The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our outpatient Multiple Myeloma/Amyloidosis clinic. Under the supervision of the Nursing/Advanced Practice Director and in collaboration with attending physicians, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive care to our patients.




  • Location: 161 Fort Washington Ave, NY, NY

  • Hours: Four 10-hour shifts per week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM.


Responsibilities



  • Perform patient histories and physical examinations.
  • Review laboratory results and place clinically appropriate orders, including diagnostic tests, medications, and consults.
  • Provide thorough patient education and manage follow-up appointments.
  • Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, such as bone marrow biopsies and fat pad biopsies, under a medical collaborative agreement.
  • Obtain consents and monitor patients' pre- and post-procedure status.
  • Develop individualized care plans and meticulously document patient history, orders, notes, and ongoing evaluations.
  • Ensure the highest quality of care and maintain adherence to established standards.
  • Serve as a vital liaison for referring physicians and external transfers.
  • Perform other clinical tasks and duties as assigned to support clinic operations.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Master's degree in Nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience, along with 1-2 years of relevant nursing experience as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current New York State (NYS) NP license (or proof of application) and RN license, as well as board certification.
  • Proven ability to make timely, effective decisions that prioritize patient safety and drive positive clinical outcomes.
  • Ability to maintain focus and clarity in a fast-paced environment, readily adjusting to varying roles, tasks, and a flexible clinic schedule.
  • Adept at prioritizing tasks to ensure seamless and effective workflows.
  • Exceptional skills to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, their families, and all members of the healthcare team.
  • Capable of independently managing clinical operations while seamlessly coordinating with physicians to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Proactively offers assistance to team members and values diverse perspectives.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Experience in hematology and oncology.
  • Experience with NYP/CUIMC systems and procedures.
  • Experience performing bone marrow biopsies.


Other Requirements



  • Medical clearance and participation in the medical surveillance program

    • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
    • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure


  • Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
