The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. The college benefits pets and their owners, food-producing animals, and wildlife by offering the highest quality hospital and diagnostic laboratory services. Position Summary |
The Associate Director of College Engagement and Annual Giving has the primary
responsibility for the coordination, growth, and success of the College's annual giving and college engagement programs. Its purpose serves to connect and build meaningful
relationships between donors, alumni, veterinary clients, industry partners, parents, and other friends of the college with the ultimate goal of leading to philanthropic support. The purpose is to build a culture of philanthropy through engagement that establishes a pipeline of donors for the future.
Will carry a leadership annual gift portfolio of 125+ prospects and donors.
This position is "high touch" which necessitates in-person and digital communication with
donors and prospects, attendance at appropriate conferences and events, and
frequent local and regional travel. This position reports to the Senior Director of
Development for the College of Veterinary Medicine.
This position will also directly manage the College Engagement & Annual Giving Officer. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Proven success in fundraising solicitations, along with experience in event planning and volunteer management, and developing and executing effective fundraising plans for major initiatives, are essential.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong self-motivation, curiosity, and problem-solving abilities, along with exceptional attention to detail, organization, and professionalism.
- Emotional intelligence, excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills are also critical.
- Candidates must uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and discretion and be committed to contributing to the broader development efforts of the University of Georgia.
- This role requires the ability to travel both in- and out-of-state and flexibility to work occasional nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in word processing, database management, and email communication is essential.

Leadership Annual Giving:
- Manage a portfolio of leadership annual giving (gifts of $1,500+ annually) prospects and donors with a focus on meaningful engagement that inspires increased giving, donor retention, and multi-year commitments.
- Prospects and donors could consist of all CVM constituents: alumni, hospital clients, faculty, staff, industry partners, parents, students, and any other non-alumni supporters.
- Cultivate relationships by providing information and opportunities aligned with constituent interests-such as events, mentoring, and campus visits-through personalized outreach including in-person meetings, email, phone, social media, video calls, and tours.
- Prepare timely, accurate, and relevant proposals, presentations, and other fundraising materials for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Maintain accurate and timely records by entering detailed contact reports after each visit and updating constituent information in the GAIL database.
- Refer prospects and donors to Regional Directors if they are considered Major Gift prospects.

College Engagement:
- Oversees CVM's college engagement events: Dean's Tailgate, Alumni Weekend, and any other events for the College that have a primary donor or prospecting purpose.
- Manage the CVM Alumni Board volunteers by coordinating meetings, facilitating communication, and aligning their goals with College's priorities to enhance alumni engagement and philanthropy.
- Oversee nominations for UGA and CVM Alumni Awards, including but not limited to Bulldog 100 and 40 Under 40

Annual Giving Program:
- Drive growth of the CVM Annual Giving pipeline and program by developing and executing strategic direct marketing initiatives that inspire donor support from alumni, hospital clients, faculty, staff, industry partners, parents, and non-alumni supporters.
- Work in collaboration with and serve as liaison to UGA's Central Annual Giving Office.
- Attend monthly meetings and participate in continuing education events as offered and deemed relevant.
- Effectively communicate funding priorities and gaps across various campus areas to a broad audience through compelling and donor-centric direct marketing appeals.
- Work with the CVM Marketing & Communications team to elevate annual giving by crafting compelling donor impact stories and managing a strategic content calendar for CVM's digital and print publications.

Other duties as assigned:
- The normal work day is 8:00 am until 5:00 pm Monday through Friday. However, this role may require some travel, night, and weekend duties in fulfillment of the responsibilities of the position. Additional duties will be required at other special events which frequently fall on nights and/or weekends.
- Attend meetings and events as appropriate: including periodic Development & Alumni Relations meetings and representing College of Veterinary Medicine as needed at external events.
- Supports the rest of the CVM Development & Alumni Relations team through furthering annual giving efforts, executing engagement initiatives, and fulfilling donor relations best practices.
- Management of donor relations and stewardship efforts for the CVM that focus on retention, requalification and increased support of donors.
- Will supervise CVM Development College Engagement and Annual Giving Officer position.
