Salary and benefit packages for this position are competitive, with salaries for this opportunity beginning at $59,000 annually.

What you'll do and what you'll bring: Position Function: Develop, oversee, and execute the museum's public outreach and collaborate with other museum staff to engage the general public, including K-12 students, community members of all ages, and Ball State faculty, staff, and students through a broad range of inclusive programs that attract varied audiences. Duties/Responsibilities:
Create, develop, manage and present the museum's public programs and activities pertaining to the permanent collection and exhibitions, including but not limited to gallery talks, receptions, and other museum-sponsored events, such as guest lectures, musical programs, workshops, and university collaborations, etc. Coordinate and conduct gallery tours and virtual museum experiences for both university and public visitors. Gather and analyze tour data for the purposes of creating museum metrics and use data to assess program effectiveness. Conceive, develop, and oversee interpretive planning and implementation of programs, including education materials in various media such as videos, podcasts and virtual experiences. Assist with label editing and production. Develop, implement and manage community programs, including partnerships related to primary and secondary education for children as well as families with a particular emphasis on underrepresented audiences. Strengthen existing programs and develop lasting relationships with community stakeholders. Conceptualize, develop, plan, and direct academic programs, including faculty and student learning needs and collaborations. Oversee and develop curricula for, and offer volunteer programs, including docents/gallery guides drawn from both the university and community. Manage the student internship program, including train, supervise and mentor education interns, including initial orientation and documenting transferrable job skills. Serve as the main university liaison to the museum's Alliance (a museum donor program) Participate in exhibit and exhibition planning and interpretation to optimize the educational potential of collection installations and exhibitions. Supervise education staff, education student interns, and education volunteers, including but not limited to interviewing, selection, compensation, discipline, performance appraisal, training, and career development. Maintain excellent working relationships with a diverse range of individuals, including staff, faculty, students, volunteers, community partners, and the public with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, flexibility, professionalism, and discretion. Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in art history, art education, museum studies or related discipline. One year of experience planning, developing, and implementing education programs in a museum setting or comparable organization. Familiarity with primary and secondary school education curricula and working knowledge of museum education and object-based theories of learning Excellent public speaking, writing, and editing skills Ability to maintain excellent working relationships with a varied range of individuals, including staff, faculty, students, volunteers, community partners, and the public with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy, flexibility, professionalism, and discretion Proficiency with basic computer programs and current social media, as well as audience evaluation and implementation of visitor surveys Ability to assess and manage multiple competing priorities and work well under pressure, with excellent time management, organizational, and creative problem-solving skills Ability to adhere to museum policies and support management decisions in a professional manner Ability to take part in programs outside of normal office hours, including on evenings and weekends Ability to work effectively in a changing environment, including changing work demands, procedures, technology, or priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in art history, museum education, museum studies or related discipline. Three to five years of experience planning, developing, and implementing education programs in an art museum. Previous experience in a college/university museum Past experience with primary and secondary teacher training Experience working with the development of tours and programs, including those for visitors with special needs
