JOB SUMMARY
The Senior SPA Analytics Analyst works with the Award Closeout team which oversees the final reconciliation of the research award agreements. It is important to understand financial acumen and the relationship of funding, revenue and expenditures. This position works with diverse analytical strategies across the financial and award systems to tie these concepts together. The Closeout team collaborates with pre and post-award functions throughout Sponsored Programs. Successful metrics in driving the team's closed population is one measure for this role. The ability to identify anomalies and exceptions and root cause financial analysis can provide strength for position.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Required
- Education
Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance, healthcare statistics or similar field.
- Experience
5 years job related experience in the Research Administration or Healthcare sector manipulating large relational databases.
Experience with advanced excel tools SQL, SAS, Stata, SPSS, or similar statistical/data management tools.
Superior working knowledge of MS Office applications and familiarity with data warehouse or Power BI preferred.
JOB DUTIES
- Designs, executes, and investigates automation of analytical strategies to improve organizational research data decisions.
- Identifies trends in expenditures and revenue using multiple data sources.
- Focus on common errors which typically occur within our processes to find root cause in order to build corrections and fix, preserving data integrity of the various systems relied upon for details.
- Works on cross-functional teams to develop novel methods for analyzing and presenting data to understand common problems across teams in order to rectify, reclassify or restate properly.
- Works with research administration or clinical finance experts to help develop explanatory models and predict impact of specific programs and trends for various University rankings and national surveys.
- Generates recommendations and presents analytic output to leadership to inform strategic and tactical decision making and guides process improvement using business intelligence.
- Conducts research and analyzes drivers of variances large and small which cause change in monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
- Uses data analysis skills and query data sources to design new reporting and analytic tools to share and train department to utilize in other practical functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
