Description

The Safety Coordinator will help develop, coordinate, and implement occupational health policies and procedures to promote and ensure effective safety operations in the organization.

Required Job Skills:



  • High School Diploma
  • OSHA 10-hour training or equivalent


Duties/ Responsibilities:



  • Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety policies and procedures.
  • Assist in implementation of mandatory Safety Management System including site evaluations of procedures and equipment to identify risks and hazards.
  • Assist in facilitating 2nd shift and line maintenance safety committee meetings.
  • Keep hazardous and non-hazardous waste areas in compliance with EPA Standards.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
  • Respirator program includes task assessment, procedure audits, in-person training, and fit tests.
  • Responsible for maintenance of safety and accident records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
  • Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.
  • Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
  • Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
  • Reviews of accident and incident reports.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


Preferred Job Skills:

Skills/Abilities:



  • Knowledge of applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and Environmental (EPA) standards.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to learn and utilize computer software systems (SMS Pro)
  • Capable with Microsoft Office or related software.
  • Basic knowledge of aircraft maintenance.
  • Ability to drive a forklift.


Education / Experience:



  • 2 years' experience in Health and Safety, Aviation, or related field.


Physical Requirements:





    • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
    • Ability to travel to job sites as required to conduct safety inspections.
    • Ability to walk up and down stairs to access aircraft
    • Work at heights of up to 50 feet to train on the use of powered platform equipment
