JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS The Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies department in The College of the Liberal Arts at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for part-time lecturer positions. Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studiesis an interdisciplinary field dedicated to the study of women, gender, and sexuality from a historical and cross-cultural perspective. WGSS asks questions about the diversity of gendered lives and experiences throughout history, examines contemporary problems using an intersectional approach, and explores how changes in fundamental assumptions about the production of knowledge have transformed conventional areas of study such as psychology, sociology, history, art, and philosophy. Our students are passionate about social justice and desire to better understand the structural and systemic forces that contribute to the ongoing oppression of marginalized peoples. Part-time Lecturers will teach undergraduate courses in Representing Women and Gender in Literature, Art, and Popular Culture and Global Feminisms Part-time Lecturers are expected to: teach two courses per semester A Master's degree in a related field or be enrolled in a PhD program in a relevant field of study required. Candidates with Ph.D. degrees in the discipline may also be assigned to teach upper level undergraduate and graduate courses. The anticipated start date for these positions is Fall 2025. In addition, successful candidates must either have demonstrated a commitment to building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse campus community, or describe one or more ways they would envision doing so, given the opportunity. These are one semester, non-tenure track appointments with the possibility of reappointment. Part-time lecturers normally teach one to two courses per semester.
