The Coordinator, OCEP, will support and implement initiatives that build community, offer mentorship, and strengthen engagement across the College of Medicine-Tucson. Duties & Responsibilities |
- Support the development and implementation of programming designed to assist first-generation physicians across the academic pipeline. This includes facilitating opportunities for undergraduate students to gain clinical experience by connecting them with faculty and community physicians for shadowing placements.
- Plan and manage a series of workshops and events tailored to support the unique needs of first-generation medical students and residents. Key responsibilities include coordinating outreach and communication with mentors and participants, managing program logistics, and supporting data collection and evaluation efforts to ensure program effectiveness and impact.
- Support programming that strengthens a sense of community within the college, fostering a more connected, empathetic, and community responsive learning and work environment. This includes the coordination and implementation of heritage month celebrations, support of both Student and Housestaff Councils on Community Engagement, supporting the needs of community/affinity groups, assisting students with resources for travel to regional and national conferences, nominating students for external scholarships, develop and maintain a mentorship network that includes residents/fellows, faculty and medical students, coordinate nomination processes and distribution of awards that recognize student leadership and excellence.
- Support the Graduate Medical Education Medical Spanish Distinction Track (MSDT). Plan, execute & support program meetings and events, including video conferencing technology, presentation software, and other communication technologies.
- Assist with scheduling Spanish proficiency testing and CCLA Certification testing.
- Work collaboratively with MSDT participants and faculty to plan and implement quarterly Healthcare Advancement Forums designed to address community challenges and needs to improve the health of communities across Arizona.
- Provide coordination and administrative support to faculty and medical
students participating in the Native Health Distinction Track (NHDT). Serve as a liaison for Native students and help connect them to culturally relevant resources and programs. - Provide coordination and administrative support to faculty and medical

community engagement and student initiatives. Coordinate programming and resources that support graduate student' engagement, and opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration. - Represent the office in any other meeting(s) that align with the student support efforts. Support with co-leading community-building circles designed to cultivate a sense of connectedness across the College.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management systems.
- Demonstrated experience with program evaluation, data collection, and reporting for continuous improvement.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
- Familiarity with medical school admissions processes and criteria.
- Experience with grant writing and management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail.

Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
- Three (3) years of relevant work experience is required.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Public Health, or a related field.
- Master's degree is preferred.
- Three (3) - Five (5) years of experience in program management, academic administration, or student services, preferably within a medical or health sciences educational setting.

In compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), each year the University of Arizona releases an Annual Security Report (ASR) for each of the University's campuses.Thesereports disclose information including Clery crime statistics for the previous three calendar years and policies, procedures, and programs the University uses to keep students and employees safe, including how to report crimes or other emergencies and resources for crime victims. As a campus with residential housing facilities, the Main Campus ASR also includes a combined Annual Fire Safety report with information on fire statistics and fire safety systems, policies, and procedures.
