Anticipated Wage: $18.06 - $22.87/hr

This position is on a 4th Shift Schedule: Team B: 7pm to 7am

SUMMARY:

Ensure final product has correct weight of finished goods and free of foreign materials; ensure final cases are properly sealed; perform custodial duties; inspect final product to remove defects and foreign materials; erect boxes and insert liners and bags to meet process needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Other duties may be assigned. All of the following are to be performed while adhering to Tree Top operational policies, safety rules, procedures and good manufacturing practices.

It is the responsibility of every employee at Tree Top Inc. to report food safety and food quality problems or risks to personnel with the authority to initiate action against these said possible risks. The Organization chart indicated key personnel with the authority to take action.

  1. Remove Foreign Materials from Finished Product Cases

    • Identify and remove foreign materials (stickers, metal, debris, etc.)
    • Identify and remove any defects from fruit (Excessive Vegetative Matter: stem, peel, core, seed)
    • Notify the Supervisor and Lab Technician when foreign materials are found


  2. Manually Weigh Finished Products at Filling and/or Weighing Stations

    • Identify net weight of product, and remove or add product to correct container, according to customers specifications
    • Tare out empty scale to packaging materials





  1. Manually Seal and Tape Finished Containers

    • Properly Seal liner/Container using manual sealers
    • Verify seal integrity of containers and document in Seal Log Verification Sheet
    • Tape container closed
    • Verify if mechanical press is allowed by spec





  1. Communicate with Co-workers and Management Regarding Weight and Quality of Finished Product

    • Inform Packaging Team Lead and Quality Technician of poor quality product and/or of product fitting poorly into container
    • Receive information from Management and/or refer to customer specification, regarding correct weight of finished product
    • Verify correct boxes and liners are being used





  1. Maintain Adequate Production Supply so Line Flow is not Interrupted

    • Remove container from under filler, and/or weigh station when filled and sealed, to maintain line flow and not back-up process
    • Erect boxes and liners to meet production line flow
    • Advise Operator and/or Supervisor when supplies are low





  1. Perform Housekeeping Assignments as Required

    • Perform housekeeping job requirements
    • Inform Team Lead of any packaging materials or product which has fallen on the floor and needs to be addressed to stay in compliance with GMP's





  1. Industrial and Food Safety

    • Follow proper Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures/standards
    • Follow all Haz-Com and Chemical Safety procedures and standards
    • Follow all Good Manufacturing Practice procedures and standards
    • Follow all Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point procedure/standards
    • Wear required and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment at all times
    • Identify and address all unsafe conditions and unsafe acts - Report to Supervisor on shift
    • Follow all other applicable safety rules and regulations




QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:



  • Thirty days position-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:



  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals such as the MSDS and other technical manuals


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:



  • Ability to add and subtract.


PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision for inspection purposes and number recognition on scale, distance vision to watch for forklift traffic and machinery, color vision to identify defects and color coded boxes, peripheral vision to watch for forklift traffic and overhead obstacles, depth perception to watch moving belts and augers, and the ability to adjust focus for inspecting and watching forklift traffic, moving machinery and falling objects.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequently exposed to extreme heat and vibration. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious place.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
