Job Summary

Reporting to the Supv HIM System, this position is responsible for capturing all appropriate charges based on clinical documentation found in the patient medical record and enter into OneChart. Apply CPT procedure code for procedures documented in the Emergency room or performed bedside in the Observation unit.

Essential Functions
  • Review medical record and capture appropriate charges, supported by physician orders and clinical documentation.
  • Apply appropriate CPT code for procedures in the Emergency room or at bedside in the Observation unit.
  • Maintain accurate, complete and timely charge process
  • Meets productivity standards while maintaining high level of accuracy
  • Analyze and resolve billing edits related to charge errors
  • Promotes and supports a culture of teamwork while working primarily independently
  • Adheres to all HIPAA and other governmental regulations for charging
  • Recognizes and reports revenue opportunities to leadership Other Charge Capture related duties
Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; ability to manage multiple demands; ability to work both independently and on a team

Preferred

  • Associate degree
  • Minimum 2 years hospital experience with exposure to the medical record and charge entry process.
  • Medical terminology knowledge.
  • CPT coding credentialed
  • EPIC experience
