We seek a candidate with a strong record of research accomplishment in bone regeneration, endochondral ossification, and the molecular and neurobiological mechanisms that underlie skeletal repair. The candidate must have a PhD (or equivalent doctoral degree) in Cell and Developmental Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field. This position reflects UCSF's strategic investment in musculoskeletal regeneration and translational orthopaedic science. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated expertise in the development of novel therapeutics and biomaterials to enhance fracture repair, with a particular emphasis on the role of neuro-skeletal crosstalk, stem cell biology, and bioengineered platforms. Experience with preclinical models, therapeutic development, and translation of regenerative technologies is especially valued. A history of interdisciplinary collaboration, sustained extramural funding, and national or international recognition is expected. The successful candidate will be appointed in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and join a vibrant community of researchers across UCSF committed to advancing innovation in musculoskeletal health. Opportunities for engagement include collaboration through the Core Center for Musculoskeletal Biology and Medicine, the UCSF/UCB Joint Bioengineering Program, and UCSF initiatives in precision medicine, regenerative therapeutics, and clinical translation. The candidate will also contribute to the department's mission through mentorship, research leadership, and service. The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay, determined by academic rank and step at the time of appointment. See Table 5. The minimum base salary for this position is $190,600. This position is governed by the UC Health Sciences Compensation Plan, APM-670 (https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf), which allows for eligibility for negotiated additional compensation. As such, the total negotiated salary (including base and negotiated components) can be significantly higher and can range up to $900,000, depending on individual qualifications, clinical productivity, and other factors assessed at the time of offer.
