St. Ann's Community is seeking a dynamic Associate Director of Nursing and Education for the St. Ann's Nursing Department. this individual will have overall responsibility for providing excellent elder/patient/patient care within their units. In this role, the individual is responsible for planning, organizing, leading and controlling the overall operation of the community 24/7. They will assist the Chief Nursing Officer with departmental leadership through the deployment of St. Ann's Mission, Vision and Values.

Job Description:
This position will have nursing administration on call responsibility. When on call, will take calls from supervisors needing assistance and may need to come into facility to take a nurse or supervisor assignment.
- Maintains personal professional growth in current nursing practices for geriatric nursing and patient rehabilitation and adjusts current educational programs to reflect acquired knowledge.
- Provides leadership in the development and implementation of Departmental initiatives to support organizational educational objectives.
- Incorporates evidence-based practice into organization policies, procedures, and educational programs.
- Works in conjunction with the Director of Quality to coordinate departmental performance improvement activities.
- Responsible for coordinating Nursing orientation for all new hires.
- Designs and implements organization-wide teaching and participative learning opportunities for staff, enhancing their involvement in all aspects of care.
- Responsible for coordinating the NYS Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program for St. Ann's to meet Federal laws, DOH and State Education Department regulations.
- Working together with St. Ann's Foundation, drafts applications and proposals for submittal to funding agencies, governmental and granting foundations.
- Partners with HR on various organizational development opportunities.
- Participates in regularly in QAPI meetings and provides support and/or leadership to various organizational incentives
- Monitors acuity standards of community operations and incident reports in order to assess needs and facilitate problem resolution. Guides and evaluates the delivery of nursing care and implementation of the nursing process; assures that nursing care plans.
- Actively involved in monitoring CMI scores
- Monitors Quality Measures, Nursing Home Five Star Rating and Nursing Home Quality Initiatives ratings
- Ensures staff compliance in accordance with departmental policies as well as all State and Federal regulatory guidelines. Disseminates new and revised policies and maintains appropriate records.
- Drives continuous process improvement through initiative and innovation; suggests/implements best practices (i.e., audits documentation and monitors process effectiveness).
- Investigates incidents of abuse/neglect and special family concerns; provides oral/written reports to CNO immediately.
- Oversees Elder/patient and Family Rounding
- Oversees the overall development of staff members including hiring, orientation, professional development, discipline and termination of staff in collaboration with both Nursing Administration and the Human Resource Department.
- Monitors requirements of St. Ann's disciplinary process and procedures and monitors disciplinary action to assure consistency.
- Reviews position control with Nurse Managers. Assumes responsibility and accountability for accurate ADP/payroll records. Monitors and justifies all overtime patterns of unit nursing staff.
- Serves on various committees within St. Ann's, as assigned, and provides written/oral reports to Nursing Administration on programs and activities, as required.
- Rounds monthly on community staff members
- Responsible for being on call 24 hours, 7 days a week. Included in Manager on duty weekend rotation.
- Administrative on call and on call rotation to cover open supervision shifts
- This position reports to the Chief Nursing Officer. This person supervises the Nurse Educators, Education Department Coordinator, the NATP Instructor, and NATP Coach.
Candidate Requirements:
- RN BSN Required, MSN preferred
- CPR Certification is required within one (1) month of hire and is required to be maintained
- Minimum five (5) years nursing management experience
- Must have Quality Improvement experience
- 3-5 years experience in Long term care, Acute care, Transitional care and/or Staff education or equivalent combination of education and experience
