Using skills as a seasoned, experienced research professional with a full understanding of in-depth statistical analyses and / or research software programming techniques, this position will utilize computational tools, software, and institutional systems to abstract, analyze and interpret research data to support the success of various existing and potential studies (i.e., in support of grant proposals/ submissions).

The Research Biostatistician is an important member of our research team, who will work with various experts in the field of geriatrics research with specific specialty areas spanning across institutions including UCSF affiliates (such as SFVAHCS) and non-UCSF collaborators. We are seeking an experienced professional in this field who can work independently to identify and resolve a wide range of issues / software bugs and can demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The Research Biostatistician is well-versed in statistical analyses using SAS, STATA, and R software, and working with large datasets. Additionally, the ideal candidate will execute, manage, and coordinate research protocols, data collection and operations of several concurrent clinical research studies under the guidelines of research protocols, UCSF/ SFVAHCS and regulating agency policies.

Specific tasks for this role may include: determining the optimal statistical approaches for testing research hypotheses and in programming; perform and interpret statistical analyses and assist with the presentation of findings; prepare the statistical sections of manuscripts and preliminary data sections for extramural grants; provide statistical programming and analysis consultation for geriatrics fellows/mentees; design databases and data input screens; perform data management; develop study protocols and write study documentation procedures (including analysis plans, protocols and standard operating procedures); design, develop, and document quality control systems for data validation; provide technical support directly and indirectly by acting as the liaison between geriatrics and UCSF and SFVAHCS technical support; and perform other duties as assigned.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $87,900 - $126,900 (Annual Rate).
