We are seeking a highly skilled Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI) / Quality Control (QC) Inspectors with hands-on experience in coal, hydro, and gas power plants.

We anticipate several openings this Fall across the Tennessee Valley region. Applying to this post will consider you for all positions.

This position is responsible for performing inspections and ensuring all welding and mechanical work complies with applicable codes, standards, and specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power generation environments, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Perform welding inspections and verification of welding procedures, welder qualifications, and material traceability in accordance with AWS, ASME, and other applicable codes.
  • Conduct visual, dimensional, and nondestructive examinations (NDE) to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records, generate quality reports, and document NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) when applicable.
  • Coordinate with contractors, engineering, and plant personnel to ensure timely quality inspections during construction, maintenance, or outages.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards across all work performed.
  • Participate in pre-job planning, QA/QC meetings, and audits to promote continuous improvement.


Education & Certifications:

High school diploma or GED required; Associate's or technical degree preferred.

Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required.

Additional NDE Level II certifications (UT, MT, PT, VT) are a strong plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years of QA/QC experience in power plants, with direct involvement in coal, hydro, and gas projects.

Working knowledge of industry standards such as AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, B31.1, and related codes.

Ability to demonstrate correct use of Welding Processes (GTAW, SMAW, FCAW) when required.

Strong understanding of welding processes, materials, and equipment used in power generation.

Familiarity with outage and retrofit work in utility-scale power plants.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on documentation and reporting.

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $87,000- $144,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of union fringes).
