DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION Assists the manager with interviewing and recommending the hiring of qualified candidates, and ensures the comprehensive orientation of new clinical staff. Evaluates and documents staff competency regularly through direct observation, peer review, standardized orientation, and staff input, and provides coaching as directed by the manager. Performs annual performance reviews on all clinical staff that are informative and set clear expectations regarding care delivery for the next evaluation period. Schedules, assigns, supervises, guides, and instructs staff in providing high-quality clinical services, including documentation and participation in patient case conferences, based on educational preparation and clinical competence. Plans, assigns, and reviews the work of staff by demonstrating appropriate procedures and methods, monitoring work in progress, and ensuring expected standards are met. Provides patient care as required using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care, and offers direct clinical support to the clinic as needed. Conducts and manages the fiscal operations of the unit, including accounting, budget planning, expenditure authorization, and reconciliation of financial accounts, while ensuring equipment is maintained and adequate supply levels are sustained. Reviews and analyzes financial activities and data to support budget planning, resource allocation, and cash management strategies. Plans, develops, facilitates, and evaluates the implementation of interdisciplinary patient care, collaborating with various clinical disciplines to improve outcomes. Develops procedures for the compilation of medical information and prepares analytical reports to inform improvements in patient care. Leads quality and performance improvement initiatives, ensures regulatory preparedness, and maintains adherence to standards and compliance requirements. Collaborates with the operational team to enhance patient satisfaction and support continuous quality improvement through effective change management in clinical processes and technologies. Works collaboratively with the unit Medical Director and manager to align nursing operations with clinic goals and standards of care. Responsible for clinical practice oversight within the assigned clinic, ensuring consistency with evidence-based practices and organizational policies. Develops, coordinates, and maintains daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of unit coverage and continuity of care. Monitors time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal/approval for payroll purposes. May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree if hired after July 2025. Existing staff in this title are grandfathered from the BSN requirement. Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days. One (1) year of nursing experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Supervisory experience. Clinic setting experience. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
