Functional Safety Design Verification Engineer
We're looking for an experienced Functional Safety DV Engineer to validate safety-critical IP and SoC designs. This role focuses on deep verification of safety mechanisms, using tools like Synopsys Z01X. Ideal candidates will bring hands-on fault injection experience, a strong grasp of safety metrics, and exposure to automotive or mission-critical hardware environments.
This is a remote-friendly contract role for candidates with proven, in-depth functional safety expertise.
Scope:
* Execute functional safety verification at IP/SoC level using tools like Z01X.
* Run and analyze fault injection campaigns; classify outcomes per ISO 26262 or similar standards.
* Validate safety logic, diagnostics, and fault coverage for designs already in place.
* Collaborate with architects and design teams to debug faults, improve coverage, and validate diagnostics.
* Contribute to safety verification planning, safety case documentation, and FMEDAs.
Required:
* 5+ years of SoC/ASIC DV experience, with 2+ years focused on functional safety verification.
* Hands-on experience with fault injection tools (e.g., Z01X, Tessent Safety).
* Deep understanding of fault modeling, ISO 26262 (ASIL targets), and coverage metrics.
* Strong skills in SystemVerilog/UVM, assertions, and debugging RTL.
* Background in automotive, robotics, compute, or AI hardware (e.g., Waymo, Zoox, Lucid, Intel, Tesla).
Pluses:
* Familiarity with formal methods for safety logic validation.
* Experience building or reviewing FMEDAs, safety mechanism libraries, or traceability matrices.
* Knowledge of ASIL-B through ASIL-D and implications for verification.
* Comfortable driving execution independently in an ambiguous environment.
Estimated Min Rate: $70.00
Estimated Max Rate: $90.00/hr+. Depends on experience
