The company's focus is facilities operation and maintenance, waste management and radiological services, security control and force protection, and environmental services.
Position Purpose: We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager of IT & Cybersecurity Solutions Architecture to lead the design, integration, and governance of enterprise-scale IT and security solutions for a large U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) environmental cleanup site supporting 9,000+ users. This role is pivotal in shaping the technical landscape of mission-critical systems while ensuring compliance with DOE cybersecurity directives, NIST standards, and federal regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will work closely with the Enterprise Architecture (EA) Program, IT leadership, cybersecurity teams, and business stakeholders to develop secure, scalable, and cost-effective solutions aligned with DOE strategic goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Strategic Leadership & Architecture
- Lead the Solutions Architecture function for IT and cybersecurity, driving long-term technology strategies that align with DOE mission objectives and enterprise architecture principles.
- Develop and maintain reference architectures, design patterns, and roadmaps for IT infrastructure, cloud environments, application platforms, and security controls.
- Ensure architectural alignment with the DOE Enterprise Architecture Program, site-level IT initiatives, and industry best practices.
Solution Design & Integration
- Oversee solution designs for major IT and security initiatives, ensuring compliance with NIST RMF, DOE O 205.1C, and other federal cybersecurity requirements.
- Provide technical leadership for integrating OT/ICS cybersecurity into enterprise IT architecture where applicable.
- Partner with vendors and internal teams to design and implement solutions for identity and access management (IAM), zero-trust architectures, SIEM platforms, cloud security, and network segmentation.
Governance & Compliance
- Define architectural standards and enforce adherence to DOE cybersecurity mandates, FISMA, and applicable policies.
- Collaborate with risk management and compliance teams to ensure secure-by-design principles are embedded in all solutions.
- Act as a key decision-maker for technical exception requests and risk-based architecture trade-offs.
Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership
- Serve as the primary technical liaison to DOE Enterprise Architecture representatives and site governance boards.
- Translate complex technical concepts into business value propositions for senior leadership.
- Mentor architecture and engineering teams on secure solution design and technology trends.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Management Information Systems, or equivalent.
- 10+ years of progressive IT experience with at least 5 years in solutions architecture, enterprise architecture, or similar senior technical leadership roles.
- Strong background in cybersecurity architecture, including familiarity with NIST SP 800 series, DOE directives, FIPS, and federal compliance frameworks.
- Experience designing solutions for large, complex organizations (9,000+ users, multiple domains, hybrid environments).
- Hands-on experience with enterprise infrastructure (Windows/Linux), cloud (Azure, AWS), networking, IAM, and security technologies.
- Proven ability to work in a highly regulated environment with federal agencies or critical infrastructure.
Preferred:
- Prior experience working on DOE sites, national labs, or other federal energy/environmental
- TOGAF, SABSA, or equivalent enterprise architecture certification.
- CISSP, CISM, or related cybersecurity certifications.
- Knowledge of ICS/SCADA security practices in industrial environments.
- Master's degree in a related discipline
