HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant I to perform data collection by conducting research interviews. The Clinical Research Assistant will recruit and screen subjects for research studies and collects baseline and follow up data from subjects. This is the first of four levels of clinical research assistants and works under the guidance and direction of senior staff.

This intermittent position (19 hours or less/ week) will be in support of Supporting Acceptance for Living with Uncomfortable Thoughts and Experience in Chronic Pain (SALUTE-CP). To refine core elements, customize delivery, and develop training and competency evaluation protocols for SALUTE-CP by (a) soliciting feedback in focus groups and interviews from military paraprofessionals and patients and (b) developing and incorporating feedback from a partner advisory council to include 6-10 stakeholders.

  • Performs data collection by conducting research interviews and assessments. Recruits and screens subjects for research studies. Collects baseline and follow up data from subjects. Checks for validity and accuracy of data ensuring compliance with quality assurance requirements and clinical relevance.
  • Periodic, local travel between recruitment sites to assist with site setup, coordination, and management.
  • Establishes and maintains database files and progress reports for studies, projects and programs.
  • May perform data analysis and interpretation.
  • Performs scientific literature searches, identification, and retrieval.
  • Performs administrative duties such as: assisting in developing and submitting grants, papers and abstracts, manuscripts and presenting studies, developing protocol manuals and data collection instruments; participates in field visits; responds to requests and questions from individuals, institutions, government agencies and funding agencies and participates in the design of research studies.
  • Assists with the preparation of manuscripts, reports, and presentations including editing and formatting documents. Distributes manuscripts and reports to all scientific collaborators as required.
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the Supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.


Education and Experience



  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Psychology or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 0-2 years experience required.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Ability to understand and utilize scientific/medical terminology and research theory in both oral and written communications.
  • Ability to use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgments.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a T3/Secret Clearance.


Physical Capabilities



  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs.


Work Environment



  • This position will take place primarily in an office environment.


Compensation



  • The hourly pay range for this position is $18.25-$20.00. Actual hourly pay will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
