What You Will Do

  • Serve as a safety role model, driving high safety awareness and practices.
  • Promote and develop practices and procedures for optimal mill operations and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with Integrated Planning, Sales and Marketing, and Wood Supply for mill optimization and value creation.
  • Develop and analyze performance metrics, identify improvement opportunities, and execute plans with team members.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and oversee the correction of alerts and implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain and improve mill optimization systems, collaborating with vendors and technicians as needed.
  • Lead Centerline efforts and administratively manage Process Improvement dashboards and workflow processes for monitoring.
  • Facilitate the development of Process Engineers and Plant Leaders, reviewing process data and optimizing equipment.
  • Manage Quality Control processes, ensuring APA compliance and driving continuous improvement in quality metrics.
  • Conduct new product development and testing and oversee cost-saving strategies in manufacturing.
  • Track and prioritize process improvement projects impacting EH&S, quality, throughput, and costs.
  • Build strong relationships with production and maintenance teams for troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Engage actively in the mill's Continuous Improvement (CI) process, addressing chronic issues with Site and partnering teams.
  • Coordinate with divisional resources for standardization and technical development.
  • Oversee technology infrastructure, ensuring data integrity and managing transitions between Activplant and Ignition.
  • Monitor and optimize process parameters such as temperatures and pressures to maximize production, quality, and yields.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently by applying strong organizational skills to ensure timely and efficient completion.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • * 5 or more years' experience working in industrial manufacturing, preferably in the wood products industry, in a technical/quality role.
  • * Minimum of 1 year of supervisory or managerial experience.
  • * Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with industrial statistics and statistical analysis tools.
  • * Experience with Root Cause Analysis, Gap identification and analysis, and project or program planning and execution.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or economics.
  • Previous wood products manufacturing experience in a leadership technical/process optimization role
