Information Technology / Operations Technology (IT/OT) professionals sculpt the technological framework of the organization through the creation and management of scalable and secure information systems. Charged with the development and deployment of solutions, they analyze short- and long-term requirements to enhance system functionality and efficiency. They design and refine software applications, ensuring integration with existing architectural paradigms while also developing network systems and infrastructure to support business needs. IT/OT personnel manage the organization's IT/OT landscape, guaranteeing the reliable operation of servers, databases, and other components of the technology ecosystem. By maintaining a secure and robust IT/OT infrastructure, they uphold the integrity and confidentiality of data while facilitating connectivity and accessibility. Information Technology / Operations Technology personnel continually adapt to technological advancements, ensuring the organization stays at the forefront of emerging IT/OT trends and is well-equipped to meet future challenges while maintaining secure and stable operations.

Discipline Description

IT/OT management oversees multiple domains of the company's IT and/or OT infrastructure, including cyber security, systems administration, network operations, and software development. They lead cross-functional teams to ensure reliable and efficient IT and/or OT operations that align with business objectives. They develop and deliver new IT and/or OT technologies and solutions to meet new business needs and improve efficiency of ongoing operations. They manage IT and/or OT initiatives and customer relationships and ensure adherence to internal and external regulations.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Lead and manage a team and delivery of a function and/or service within the Information Technology, Cyber Security, or Computing/Engineering functions. The scope includes delivery of a function/service/systems, management of the personnel, equipment, subcontracts and materials associated with the performance of this scope and compliance with the applicable laws, regulations and orders.
1. Promote the safety programs of the site and lead by example.
2. Provide a cost-effective and reliable function/service using industry standards practices that are applicable to this function, and incorporating the requirements that are unique to the SRS mission.
3. Manage and lead the work and personnel associated with the function and/or service and managing to budget and schedule commitments.
4. Maintain conduct of operations at the optimal rigor for the given function, service or situation.
5. Lead, coach, communicate and develop employees for enhanced performance and teamwork. Identify current and future training needs and assist employees with career development.
6. Maintain and ensure compliance with all DOE orders, guidance as well as laws and regulations for the function/service.
7. Continue to improve customer services by monitoring feedback, benchmarking, and defining initiatives to improve.
8. Participate in the planning of current and future state needs and strategies that contribute to achievement of the Information Services strategy and SRS mission.
9. Other duties as these responsibilities are intended to describe the primary elements of the job as a whole, not to describe any one position in its entirety.

Required Qualifications

* Twelve or more YOE as an individual contributor in one or more of the roles managed plus three or more years of experience (YOE) in a relevant management role, OR Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field plus eight or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed, OR Master's Degree in a relevant field plus five or more years of experience (YOE) in one or more of the roles managed
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

We'd Also Like to See

Bachelor degree in computer science or related degree desirable.

Experience building and leading computer systems administration teams for both standalone and networked OT systems in both classified and unclassified environments. Experience developing scope, schedule, and cost estimates for large software development projects.
Proactive mindset to drive change, question assumptions, and push for innovative solutions.
Advanced degree in a Technical or Management/Leadership Discipline.
Experience in management and preferably in higher level company management positions.
In-depth knowledge of DOE order requirements, Industry Standards, and Company Policies and Procedures related to Engineering, Software Quality Assurance, Cyber Security, and Process Operations.
Experience in the information technology/computing disciplines and management experience preferred.
Knowledge of large-scale computer systems, midrange and distributed computer systems, desktop/end-user computer systems in order to effectively manage the SRNS computing infrastructure.
Knowledge to effectively manage the SRNS information technology strategy.
Knowledge of organization, department, division and site policies, procedures, practices and strategic direction.
In-depth knowledge of information technology life cycle management techniques and processes.
Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate empowered teams to achieve department objectives.
Demonstrated responsiveness to customer and organization needs and ability to communicate and negotiate with customer, management and employees.
Understanding of industry best practices.
Knowledge of SRS information requiring protection, protection strategies and mechanisms, and reporting requirements.
Knowledge of threat and risk assessment methods and countermeasures appropriate for current IT systems and new applications requested by DOE/NNSA and SRS organizations.

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
