THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Game Commission is eager to welcome an energetic 3 Year Limited Term Environmental Education Specialist to the team. In this engaging role, you will have the opportunity to assist in the planning and development of wildlife education programs for schools, conservation organizations, community groups, and interested parties at the Middle Creek Visitors Center. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the Middle Creek Visitors Center through public outreach, education, and facility operations. Under the supervision of the Wildlife Regional Director and Wildlife Education Manager, responsibilities include greeting and assisting visitors, answering questions about wildlife and habitat, managing daily opening and closing procedures, and supporting biological duties such as hunter harvest checks. The role involves planning and delivering wildlife conservation and environmental education programs for schools, youth groups, and the public, both in person and virtually, including developing curriculum and educational materials. Additional duties include assisting with events, exhibits, volunteer coordination, website and brochure development, and promoting the agency's mission across the Southeast Region.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 3 year limited term
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Weekend work is essential
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in environmental education, education, the natural sciences, social sciences, or parks and recreation; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings.
  • Willingness to wear a prescribed uniform.

Other Requirements:

  • This particular position also requires you to possess a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
