Position Title: Assistant Marine Superintendent

Reports To:Fleet Manager

Schedule: Monday through Friday business hours and additional as required

Location: Dania Beach, FL

Position Supervised: Ship staff and contractors as required

Required Qualifications

Education: Maritime Degree or equivalent.

Experience: Previously sailed in a licensed Deck Officer position

Languages: English

Traits: Ability to travel as necessary for projects, ability to work well withothers, self-starter, proactive, flexible with work schedule, well organized

Preferred Qualifications

Skills/Software: Working experience with Excel, Word, and Outlook. NS-Enterprise

Education: Chief Mate

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Treats Health, Safety, and Environment as Top Priority
  • Ensures our vessels are compliant with all regulatory initiatives, including:
  • Port and Flag state
  • Classification societies
  • Company and terminal policies
  • A member of the Emergency Response Team
  • Partners with the Director of Operations on planning and exercising modifications or legislative upgrades as required.
  • Assist and participate in Incident investigations.
  • Takes an active role in recruitment/selection of Masters / Chief Mate and will recommend promotions to both Chief Mate and Master
  • Training orientation of Masters / Chief Mate - process & systems
  • Monitoring voyage performance - speed & consumption and verifying the ships are meeting requirements.
  • Assists in general commercial issues, including customer support.
  • Responsible for ensuring assigned vessels meet stakeholder requirements, including:
  • Federal and applicable State/Port Authorities
  • Customer's ship terminal policies
  • Company policies
  • Coding invoices and receipts when necessary
  • Travel in support of ship operations; convenes safety meetings during vessel visits, addressing issues important to management.
  • Promotes a professional relationship with the officers and crew.
  • Perform such other tasks, duties, and responsibilities as may be required or directed by the Director of Operations
