Role Purpose

The Vice President, Human Resources for U.S. Utilities, serves as a strategic HR leader responsible for shaping and executing the people strategy across AES Indiana and AES Ohio. This role partners closely with the President, Senior Leadership Team, and the Global HR organization to ensure alignment and coordination of people offerings. The VP HR works in close collaboration with the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) to deliver integrated HR solutions that support business objectives, drive organizational effectiveness, and foster a high-performance culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary HR liaison to the President and Senior Leadership Team.
  • Oversee Employee & Labor Relations, including collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiations, and maintain strong partnerships with unions.
  • Oversee staffing strategy, workforce planning, and talent acquisition for critical roles.
  • Drive culture, engagement, and leadership development initiatives to foster an inclusive, high-performance environment.
  • Manage HR cycles, including performance management, compensation planning, and succession planning.
  • Oversee tracking and communication of performance scorecards, analytics, and ensure alignment with budgeting and financial planning.
  • Provide strategic guidance on organizational design and change management.
  • Represent HR in Board-level interactions and ensure compliance with governance standards, employment law compliance, and company values.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Master's degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Progressive HR leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior-level role.
  • Proven experience in labor relations, including union negotiations and contract administration.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and advise senior executives and Boards.
  • Strong background in strategic workforce planning, organizational development, and change leadership.
  • Experience managing HR operations, budgeting, and analytics.
  • Leadership presence with exceptional communication, strong interpersonal relationship capabilities, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Must reside full-time in Indianapolis, Indiana; also travel as needed, primarily to our Indiana and Ohio locations.
