Under direct supervision, maintains the interior, exterior and facility systems of the Credit Union of Texas Event Center and community ice rink building. This is accomplished by maintaining and monitoring facility refrigeration, lighting, HVAC systems, electrical, and plumbing requests. Other duties may include providing assistance to various departments, assisting with and setting up special events, and interfacing with other City employees and citizens. This position does not provides direction to other employees.


Essential Functions

The following duties ARE NOT intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.

  • Maintains the interior of facilities by repairing floors, bathroom fixtures, water fountains, pumps, doors and hardware, painting, and other general maintenance activities.
  • Completes basic electrical work requests by replacing lights, ballasts, light switches and electric plugs, making extension cords, installing security cameras and systems and performing preventative maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Completes basic plumbing work requests by replacing flush valve kits, bowl wax and faucets, unclogging drains and commodes and performing preventative maintenance on plumbing systems.
  • Completes basic HVAC repairs/pump repair by installing filters, cleaning condensers, troubleshooting equipment, performing preventative maintenance on HVAC systems.
  • Maintains the ice package system by monitoring and inspecting both ice rinks and adjusting as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education & Experience
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

  • High School diploma or equivalent plus two (2) years of relevant work experience
Other combinations of education and experience may be considered

Certification and Other Requirements
  • Valid Class C Drivers License.
  • Basic Ammonia Refrigeration Certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment.
  • Requires a varying schedule including working evenings, weekends, holidays, and an on-call rotation after hours.

  • Basic carpentry and reading/interpreting electrical, HVAC, structural, and plumbing layouts and technical manuals.
  • Effectively communicating orally.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Ability to work outside, including in extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity.
  • Ability to work with mechanical, chemical, electrical, and fire hazards.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
  • Ability to push, pull, reach, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, twist, climb, and balance frequently.
  • Ability to lift 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-25 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
  • Ability to operate city or personal vehicle for business purposes.
