Senior Data Scientist

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel LLC in East Chicago, IN seeks a Senior Data Scientist to formulate, suggest, and manage data-driven projects which are geared at furthering the business's interests.

Summary of Responsibilities

• Collate and clean data from various entities for later use by Associate Data Scientists.
• Delegate tasks to Associate Data Scientists to realize the successful completion of projects.
• Monitor the performance of Associate Data Scientists and providing them with practical guidance, as needed.
• Select and employ advanced statistical procedures to obtain actionable insights.
• Cross-validate models to ensure their generalizability, robustness, and accuracy.
• Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns.
• Produce and disseminate non-technical reports that detail the successes and limitations of each project. Suggest ways in which insights are obtained might be used to inform business strategies.
• Stay informed about developments in Data Science and adjacent fields to ensure that outputs are always relevant.
• Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.
• Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.
• Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.
• Develop custom data models, predictive models, and machine-learning algorithms to apply to data sets. Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.
• Develop company A/B testing framework and test model quality.
• Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
• Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.
• Work in Agile teams and use Scrums to organize work.

Minimum Qualification

• Must have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field.
• 5 years of experience as a Data Scientist, Database Administrator, or Applications Engineer is required.

• Must have 5 years of experience: querying databases and using statistical computer languages including Python, SQL, as well as object-oriented languages.
• 5 years of experience creating normalized data models and de-normalized data models; developing tools and testing models to ensure data accuracy; with ETL/ELT and distributed data/computing tools; working in Agile teams and using Scrums to organize work.
• Must have 5 years of experience in data governance and master data management; in statistical analysis, machine learning, or data mining techniques.
• Must have 5 years of experience working with and creating data architectures.
• Must have 3 years of experience: visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using Power BI and DAX; using web services and opensource frameworks like MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, MS-Azure, etc.
