Temple University's ITS Department is searching for a Software Engineer 1! Position Summary: The Software Engineer 1 position on the Temple University Software Engineering and Machine Learning team is responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing software applications and designing, constructing, and testing new custom software applications that address defined user requirements. The team also focuses on the development and deployment of APIs in our Kubernetes environment. You'll work directly with functional stakeholders to gather requirements, iterate on UI prototypes, and deliver features in an agile cadence. Day to day, you'll work directly with a diverse stack, including Python, .NET Core and FastAPI for API services, Node.js and React for containerized web apps, REST integrations, Docker and Kubernetes (Helm) for orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and relational databases in Oracle SQL This position requires a background check: Personal Identifiable Information (PII) Required Education and Experience: *Bachelor's degree and at least two (2) years of related technical experience. *Demonstrated experience with Python, .NET Core and FastAPI for API services, Node.js and React for containerized web apps, REST integrations, Docker and Kubernetes (Helm) for orchestration, CI/CD pipelines, and Oracle SQL. *An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Required Skills & Abilities: *Knowledge of Object Oriented Programming principles in Java, Python or C# *Knowledge of Oracle SQL and PL/SQL or an equivalent database technology stack. *Intermediate skill in creating and modifying packages, procedures, triggers, and functions. *Knowledge of Web Services and designing Web APIs. *Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills along with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse groups of individuals. *Ability to work nights and/or weekends, if necessary Preferred skills & abilities *Agile Development *Familiarity with Higher Education application support/development. *Experience with researching and diagnosing data inconsistencies. Essential Functions: *Begin to develop code for small to midsize applications with assistance. *Perform code enhancements and/or begin to develop technical specifications. Validate and test other applications. *Basic knowledge using application database schemas, database objects, tables, and views to create complex joins that are optimized for performance. *Knowledge of Object Oriented Programming principles in Java, C# or Python. *Knowledge of Web Services and designing Web APIs. *Handle support tickets with assistance. *Basic knowledge of version control. *Maintain good communication with the team via daily meetings and well-documented code This position is assigned as Hybrid.
